Title: Control of your Body and Soul !
Post by: theman on October 11, 2012, 06:30:16 PM
Each and Everyone of us Control Our Bodies and Soul's !

We are given that gift to do what we want.  Unless there are mental handicaps.  I have worked with these wonderful people and they are outstanding .

I have seen many handicapped people and known many that have become handicapped.  Through war, law enforcement , firefighters, and those who were at the wrong place at the wrong time.  All which totally Sucks, but also very real !

With all the members on this fine board.  I know for a fact.  That you understand what I am saying here.

So when we have our pitty party's screw it !  Look around and see the neighbor kid that has cancer, or born with handicap's , or the cop down the street that was left in a W/C or the fireman, or the vet..  And the one who doesn't have a title.  But has a God given attitude of Not Giving Up !

May God Bless each and Everyone of you and yours !

I had to say this because it was on my Heart.

My 15 year old son was diagnosed at 8 months old with what usually becomes a totally debilitating conditon. We had 5 -6 very rough years dealing with all his health issues. At one point he was diagnosed as "mentally retarded". Thru the Power of Prayer, Love, the Kindness of Starngers, and Faith... my son today is just a normal 15 year old boy (some very mild learning disabilities).

I HATE the word "retarded" and will NOT hesitate to call people on it if it is used inappropriately.

AND.... I have an extreme soft spot for handicapped people in general and particularly kids.

Mike, you wouldn't say it ... so I will. In that list above, you left out "extraordinary parents who never faltered in their belief and support of their son."  The others you listed couldn't have done what they did without you providing the catalyst.

Hope that doesn't make your dome blush.

Thank you Rick. The vast majority of that credit HAS to go to my amazing wife. Without her strength and perseverance, I fear I may have crumpled under all of it.
We always did, and still do, set the bar high for our son...... you will NEVER hear the words "good enough" in this home.

God Bless you and it shows what prayer and giving it to our God can do.  I have seen and worked with those who are mentaly disabled.  Heck they have more love and common sense than the idiots with High I Q's.  I have expressed this to many , and you would be surprised how many feel the same what and it is not my sometimes intimating looks.

Thank you so much for sharing this story !

God Bless,

theman

Mike, thanks for sharing such a personal story with perfect strangers (ok, maybe we aren't strangers) but your story about your son makes me appreciate the things that I have and to free my mind from worrying about what I don't have....Continued blessings to you and your family!
