That was one of Cameron's first experiences.  I guess it just takes some getting used to.

I've shaved my legs with headslick and I must say.... it is definitely slick.

Might be more about getting use to the HB bro with something that slick.
It's mentioned often to take things slowly whilst getting use to building a shaving technique with  the HB.

Hope the head's ok,  rub vaseline or something similar over the cut area.

Oh, dear.  Sorry to hear about that.  Yikes!  Grab the styptic pencil.  Sounds like you'll have to "go around" the wound if you shave at all.  Good luck.

I would also say that it was the Headblade and not the Headslick.  I have had a similar experience.

Amateur... sorry that happened bro.  I think with the HB, you either have the touch or not.  I'm glad I do because it is the quickest, cheapest way to shave.  If anybody asks, just tell them you got in a bar fight, and the other guy wasn't so lucky!

curiousity killed the cat!!!
I remember when I as a lurker.  I checked this site one day and Razorx wrote this thing about
how badly he had cut himself with headblade.   That was the day I knew I would forbid myself from
trying it.   I don't know but there are many good razors out there that can do a decent job without
deep cuts.   So, why bother with headblade?

Sorry that happened to you. I use a HB but I have learned two things. First..DON'T apply pressure..if you do you'll cut yourself for sure. Second take your time..get in a hurry and you will slice the old noggin for sure. When I bypass those two steps I seem to always be grabbin for my styptic pencil.  One thing I have found though is I seem to have to go back and do alot of touchups with my Mach3 so I am not so sold as I first was on how well it performs. Seems like alot of money out for two differernt razors.

It was the HB not the Headslick.  Around the ears is tough enough, but for me and a lot of the guys the HB is the intro to bloody sacrifice.  I'm Fusion & Headslick, never  been nicked, much less sliced.  I do feel for you, it's a tough lesson.  But you'll soon heal, and learn.

I've been using the HB for months, and only once did I even come close to nicking myself, and it didn't even bleed.  I shave pretty fast, too.

I've always shaved in the shower without a mirror.  In fact, I've never seen myself shave my head.

ok im ok now. i have this nasty 2 inch white-ish scar on my head now from where i cut it. it actually is more noticeable than my shadow now haha. but anyways......you can only imagine how painful my shower was afterwords. it felt  like i dipped my head in a bucket of gasoline and then lit my head on fire. i wanted to cry haha.

the cut was nasty though. i just hope itll heal enough in the next day or 2 so i can get back to shaving. i actually pulled a rather long peice of skin out of my blade after the cut. gross  :XX

hey ghost:  hope U mend up quickly but it's definitely the HB razor & not the headslick.  from what i know from die-hard headbladers... it just takes a little time 2 get used 2.  4 me... the fusion (manual) gets the job done. O0

im sure it was the headblade and not the headslick. i was kind of joking when i blamed it on the headslick. it was just ironic that the day i bought the headslick and used it was the first day i ever cut myself this bad.

so i know it wasnt the headslick but im still kind of scared to use the headslick now. i finished my head with regular shaving gel and it just makes me more comfortable. i think im gonna stick with shaving gel until i give my cut a LONG time to heal. then ill give the slick a shot again.

Alright, my lovely girlfriend already shared my bloody pic. I did that with the Headblade when I first started using it. Here's what you did wrong: too much pressure! You don't have to apply any pressure to the HB to get the job done. I sliced myself often for about a month before I got used to it, and now I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I too love my headblade, but i'm getting Leary of the headslick I find it starts drying out and the razor bites into my head, and i have to keep adding water to my head to keep it soft and keep the razor from clogging rock hard with it.  Maybe it got a bad batch or something.   Ghost, yeah the cuts heal i've cut myself good and i cant' even see a scar. There was a little red dot for awhile tho.

Ouch.  You probably won't scar as such, but keep the sun off the injured skin, or it turns a different color than the surrounding skin.  It's probably a lot less protected.  Thanks to this effect, my legs tell the story of every crash on my bike for the last few years (sunscreen doesn't really have any effect on a scab).

I don't have any scars either, and I doubt you will.  If you're concerned, apply some Neosporin to aid the healing process or apply Mederma which is designed to prevent/minimize scarring.

I've been using the HB for over a year. Here are my observations for old and new HB users alike.
Please feel free to add your two cents.....

I have both nicked and cut myself with the HB. A few pretty bad cuts too. I've noticed that this usually happens when I do one of two things.
1) Try to get those couple extra shaves out of the blade (I've stopped doing this!)
2) If I rush my shave.

I NEVER cut myself with the HB going with the grain..... it's always when I'm going against the grain.

I would say the "no pressure" rule is a bit of a misnomer. I actually feel that you NEVER put pressure on the front of the HB (above the blade).... BUT, I think a small amount of pressure on the back of the HB (above the wheels/pad) is a good thing. That little pressure keeps the HB against your head AND actually prevents you from having pressure on the blade end. No pressure on the blade end = little or no cuts/nicks.

yeah, that's totally true. I guess I always think that is known when I say "no pressure" I mean no pressure on the blade only. I'll remember to add that from now on, too.

On that one, I think it depends on what kind of blades you use. I probably get 2 weeks worth of shaving everyday out of one Sensor Excel blade.

I have no idea about those. I'm going to use one for the first time today, since I got a new HB last night and it came with the triple. If I like it, I'm sure I'll keep using it until it gets dull. I get back to you after my shave tonight and let you know if I'm going to keep using it, lol.

I get a week from the HB triples. Your mileage may vary since I have really nothing but a few hairs I'm cutting from the whole top of my head due to MPB. But I do have thick hair in the horseshoe.

I use the CVS triples sold at CVS stores. They are dead ringers for the HB triples except for the color of the lubricating strip.

Yeah, so I tried to HB triple tonight and... if they stopped making the sensor adapters, then I COULD use them, but for me, the Sensor Excel is the only way to go!

Hey Ghost. I cut my head too. It was a deep cut. I think it the triple blade that cause to cut your head. I use headblade too. I have to stop using triple blade. There is something wrong with the triple blade. My brother cut his head too, he was using triple blade from headblade. So I really think it the triple blade that cause it. I am using Gillette Sensor Excel blade now. They run smooth. It the double blade. I go with the grain.

I get about 2 weeks worth from my Atra blades (2-blade) on the headblade. The HB is all I use on my head, even around the ears  O0 . Just be smooth, no downward pressure, and replace the blades before you think you have to.

Like all of us Fusion Guys, smooth no cut haircuts anytime! O:O O:O O:O O:O O:O
Funny thing is I like the look of the HB, I have one--used once and not for the whole dome bc it was too awkward even once.  I think I like the little wheels because it's like Tonka Toys that I had as a kid.  Boy I wish I still had those--real solid metal.  Wonder if they're collectable?  But I will stick w/ the Fusion as my weapon of choice even if the blades run about $3 each and I change once a week.

i have yet to shave my head since cutting it pretty bad with the headblade because now i have a big nasty scab on it that sticks out above the skin. so i have to think of how im gonna go about shaving now.i dont want to go around the scab cuz then ill have a huge hairy spot on my head, and i dont wanna shave lightly over that area cuz then itll be uneven and rough. im wondering if a skin cream would work?

Ghost,  Why not shave with your headblade avoid the scab and if you have an electric razor shaving over the scab that might work.

Electric razors are usually great for shaving over injured areas; just don't apply too much pressure.  The injured area doesn't need to be perfectly smooth -- you just don't want any hair there to be visible to anyone else.  A little "invisible" stubble is fine.

Here's my 2 cents.

I have cut myself with both the HB and the fusion its like Mike said, if you go too fast or let the blades get dull you will cut yourself. Also the pressure thing works for both as well don't use to much on either of them.
You have to get the feel for what works for you how much pressure is too much or not enough. Until you get the hang of what works for you you ARE gonna cut yourself a few times and it will happen from time to time after as well.

I use the headblade all the time and I have never cut myself like that.  I am amazed that people just can not get the hang of the HB.  To me its the simplist and easiest form of shaving.  I seriously think we need to have a
"Head Shave Down" at the next convention.

When rushing this morning I took 2 great chunks out of my head  :'( whilst shaving with my usually 'nickless' headblade. I now have two great big scabs on my head - very attractive !
I only blame myself for rushing as I ususlly find that the headblade is brilliant at geting the smoothe result that I like.  It looks like I'll be back to usuing my Fusion (that I usually use on my face) and going VERY slowly and gingerly for a few days.  ::)

Same here oldbaldy, since I started using my HB back in '07 I haven't had a cut. You can't use a heavy hand on the noggin' guys!  Go easy!

Amateur... sorry that happened bro.  I think with the HB, you either have the touch or not.  I'm glad I do because it is the quickest, cheapest way to shave.  If anybody asks, just tell them you got in a bar fight, and the other guy wasn't so lucky!

Nice!  :*))
