then...

1.  apply shave secret to face or pacific shaving oil (depending on mood)
2.  apply baldguyz shaving gel or headslick
3.  shave it off with fusion (manual)
4.  shave it against the grain,  with the grain, & every other direction necessary 4 complete smoothness
5.  cold water rinse
6.  ice cube rub
7.  pat dry face with towel
8.  apply cold witch hazel from the fridge
9.  apply baldguyz shaving gel
10.  smile at mirror as i'm looking at my smoooooth dome and face :D O0

on a side note:  i use the st. ive's apricot scrub (exfoliation) 2-3 times a week prior 2 applying the shaving oil.

so... how 'bout U?  what's your current face shaving routine?  what's your story?

I have a much simpler routine:

1) Wet and wash the face and head with soap and hot water (in the shower)
2) Apply that day's choice of shaving product (that could include Shave Secret but not always)
3) Shave with the grain.... face first andthen the head
4) Re-apply shaving product
5) Shave against the grain
6) usually twice a week I first wash my face and head with BaldGuyz Wash Gel
7) Twice a week I use Apricot scrub after shaving
8) Apply Nivea Extreme After Shave balm
9) after getting out of shower, look in mirror and say, "Damn that looks good!!!"

I usually scrub my face, or the part not now covered w/ the goat, with the loofa pad after I've worked on the dome, then after the shower I put a hot washcloth on the dome, and leaving the face wet, dry off and address shaving, first the face with Fusion Gel, then brush of some Headslick and clean the dome last  Shaving around the goat is a work in progress, I'm trying different ways--but that's got a way to go until I learn what works best.  When I rub down the dome w/ Nivea Extreme Care, I also rub that into the face--feels good, light unobtrusive smell.

I usually like shaving with a cream or oil on my face, compared to a gel or soap on my head.

I always shave after a shower, so I use my head shed on my face in the shower.
I soak my brush in a bowl and put a little water on my soap puck.
I wet my face several times after I get out while I do the rest of my routine.
Use shave secret to lube up. I also have some AOS oil but it is pretty thick and can cause a mess.
Make my lather (sometimes I'll substitute the soap for a cream).
Work in the lather on my face for like a minute.
Get to work with the HD. A few passes with the grain and then one or two against the grain.
Still haven't mastered the DE razor and my going ATG upper lip, so I use the CVS3 to clean that up.
Alum Bar
Witch Hazel
Ice
Clubman Pinaud OG
Lotion, Nivea or Poraso.
Marvel at how much time that just took me. However, on days when I'm in a hurry....I pay.

I might be the only one like this, but I shave with an electric for my face. I've tried using a razor on my face, even with Shave Secret, Headslick and a Fusion..I still get high amounts of irritation/bleeding. I also get little "skin tags" all over where the skin is obviously irritated. Now, that's if I go against the grain. If I go with the grain I don't get that, but the shave closeness leaves much to be desired. I use a Braun electric on my face to avoid this...I get a very close shave and no irritation.

On my head I use the oil, headslick and Fusion in the shower with almost no irritation ever.

Electric on face, razor on head. Kinda complicated, which is why I hope the laser is done soon! Haha.

I go the traditional route when shaving my face.  I use a shave brush and a shave soap or cream.  For a razor I use either a DE safety razor or straight razor.  My aftershaves vary but I typically use an alcohol-based aftershave followed by a light balm.

I usually just lather up my face and my head at the same time with the same product, Head Slick. I then shave my head after it's had a while for the oil and slick to soak in. Two or three times a week I just use an electric.

I shave my head against the grain in the shower with either mach 3 or fusion and then I get out and sink shave for my face use a mach 3 going with the grain.

I just can't shave against the grain on my neck. I can do it but after a day or two I pay for it. It just becomes super raw and red and I get breakouts all over, so I just go with the grain and accept a less close shave; it accentuates the dome anyway  O O0

Same here...however, I just use a DE and not a straight razor.  Anything else and I get ingrown hairs.

I can shave my head with a rusty can and not get cut or razor burn. But I can buy the most expensive supplies for my face and get cuts, razor burn, ingrown hairs. I have a really sensitive face. I gotta shave reallllyyyyyy slow.

It all depends on how busy I am, but usually I lather up with saving soap and shaving brush and then do a second layer of head slick.  I then use a shaving brush to get a good lather all over my head.  I then shave head and neck against the grain and face and upper lip with the grain.  I then wash off any remaining soap and put a layer of aloe vera gel and head slick glossy.

Will start with electric razor for face to get all the bulk of growth cut down, then will shave dome with head slick using Mach 3 or Fusion.  Will then finish face with Sensor  blade and barbasol cream (aloe)as works well around goatee and top of ears, complete with clinique moisturizer on dome, neck, and face.  Mission complete.

I shower first then use a straight razor for the face.  I got sick of paying for all those expensive razor cartridges that promote bumps and iirritation more because of the numerous blades.   I use Noxema shave cream as it just works better for me

I save my face every other day. In the winter I use an electric either a foil or a rotory I have both. In the sumer I use a regular razor , I've tried most out there.I like the sensor best for me. But I wind up buying whats on sale. The BIC and Gillet Good News works fine. Then Bald  Guys  moistureizer. Some  Witch  Hazel in the sumer.

if my beard is getting too long. I'll buzz it down with no guard on clippers very carefully (skin got pinched and ripped open once lots of blood) then

Then I wet my face with some warm water

Apply shaving cream

Shave with the Mach 3 everyone except my chin where I keep a little chin mitten as you can see in my photo.

Dry off and enjoy my day(all this follows after my headshave ofcourse)

My routine's pretty simple for both.  I splash down my head and face with very warm water...rub my shaving soap puck over both, work it into a lather with a brush. Then I wait and brush my teeth.

After everything has softened up, I start shaving, usually with whatever happens to be on sale.  I hop into the shower to rinse, and I'm done.

For the face I use my trusty Norelco (daily).

When the goatee starts getting a little scraggly, I have found that the the clipper attachments on the Conair Cleanhead do a fantastic job with tidying things up (even better than the beard trimmer I had been using until that point).

A little splash of Thayer's Lavender witch hazel (or some Afta), and I'm good to go.

I have gotten to where I just lather the face up while I am lathering the dome.  I am a sink shaver using the braille method on the head.  Hot water, secret shave, Bigelow cream and just brush it on.  Kinda look like a snowman.  Works great for me.  I use the same for head and face now---which works awesome!!  I use Nivea aftershave balm and then some aloe gel.  I have gotten to where I love to shave!!

Thanks, I you do use one on your head go slaw and easy. I have only shave my head once with a double edge razor, it was a very close shave but I had quite a few nicks. I'm going to try it on the noggin again but go at it more carefully and slower next time.
I do however shave my face with them daily and absolutely love the results.

Thats one of my favorites. Dial up number 7 and you get a pretty aggressive shave. I think I could skip a day or 2 of shaving if I were to set it on 9.

I usually shave my head in the shower, so usually after getting out of the shower, I shave my face at the sink. My headblade is used to shave my head. I use a regular safety razor, usually the dollar store brand, with 10 in a pack. They are the $2 ones, not the cheaper ones. (I know thatis pretty cheap for 10 razors, but there are cheaper ones out there.) They absolutely must have that lubricating strip on them. If I buy the cheaper ones without the strip, I'll bleed and break out. My wife uses these whem she is out of her Gillette Venus blades, plus they aren't that cheap so we don't buy them all the time. Then I  put a thin coating of nozema and my wife's shaving gel. Then I shave my face, but I leave the goatee and trim that as needed. Sometimes when my wife gets her hair done, I'll have her beautician trim my goatee. :*))

clean face then rinse vigorously with COLD water then apply shaving cream and use a sharp razor. never shave untill you get out of shower that way hair is soft and easy to shave and skin is moisturized by the steam

Nowadays I just keep a short stubble on my face and neck, so I basically just use my beard trimmer without any attachments all over. Then I use a Mach 3 (same blade I use on my head) to keep the sideburns from going above the ears. Nice and easy.

me? I just dry shave with one of those 10 for a dollar yellow no name brand razors.  Yep,  I shave off all 37 of my facial hairs once a week whether I need to or not.

I don't think its fair that I have more hair on my left ass cheek than I do on my face. hmm.... I wonder if they can transplant ass hair  on to a persons face?

I use the same methods for the face as i do for the noggin ie, shower using dove+mencare body and face wash, rinse, apply shave secret , rewet apply king of shaves alpha antibacterial shave gell, but instead of using my new fav tool[ the m5] i use on the face the hydro,  cold rinse , pat dry and then apply dr organics double strengh aloe vera gell, for a super smooth and rash free face and dome O0 O0 O0

My current face shave routine since I gave up my fusion, schick hydro5, and magnum M5 razor.

Wash face with Nivea for Men Face Wash or Neutrogena Men's Face Wash with hot water

Semogue 620 brush or Shea Moisture badger brush

Lather with brush of choice with either Taylor of Bond Street (TOBS) Sandalwood Shaving Cream or Mike's Natural Soap and apply on face

Safety razor of choice:  EJ89L (Edwin Jagger), Weber DLC,  vintage Gillette Tech, vintage Gillette Open Comb

Double edge blade: Astra SP, Shark SC, Gillette 7'o clock Black, Gillette 7'o clock Blues, and a few others (depending of mood).

Perform 3 passes:  WTG, XTG, ATG

Cold water rinse,  ice cube rub until it melts,  towel dry, and apply either WH (from fridge) or Osage Rub

Lately I have been using the Osage Rub.  Talk about a cool, tingling sensation.  This gives U an "ahhhh that feels good" moment. O0

I just saw you had started this thread in 2009 and then was looking to see how you had updated it!  A big change of direction for you there!!

Glad you're enjoying the classic way of shaving!  How is the TOBS Sandalwood by the way?  I've only tried the Lemon/Lime one last year, and I loved it.  Unfortunately my Dad did too, so I gave it to him!

I do the same thing I do with my head I lather up the face a dome at the sink and shave with 2 passes I like to shave after my shower and not before so that the hair on my face and dome is prepped by the hot/warm water

nothing fancy

1. Fill sink with water lather up face + dome with my shave gel I use schick hydro plus the hydro razor to match but mainly the schick extreme3 gets the job done

2. Wet razor shave face + dome rinsing my blade every so wipe off excess lather with wet wash cloth let water out refill sink reapply lather and shave again to everything nice and smooth and for missed spots

3. Wipe off excess lather steam the face + dome with hot wash cloth [sometimes] rinse my face + dome with cold water to cool and shut down everything to refresh my shave towel off

3. Grab a cotton pad wet it with facial astringent and rub on face and dome to remove any dirt and oil so my what just shave is clean apply after shave gel and lotion to face + dome if not regular lotion then face lotion

4. clean up sink

My routine:

1 have a hot shower to open up the pores.
2 fill sink with straight hot water and leave razor in to warm up.
3 apply shaving cream with brush.
4 shave with grain then across.
5 rinse with luke warm water.
6 rinse with straight cold.
7 apply maca root razor relief after shave.

1. Hot shower
2.Shampoo and conditioner on face (yes, its weird but it works for me)
3.Lather up.  I prefer brush and lather, but barbasol works just as well for me.
4.Shave with the grain on my cheeks, utilizing my safety razor.
5.Rinse and re-lather and go against grain with safety razor on my cheeks.
6.Lather up and shave neck and mustache area with the grain, utilizing Fusion razor.
7.Rinse with cold water and put on some bump patrol.

I either don't have enough skill or patience (possibly both) to utilize safety razor anywhere else but cheeks.  Doesn't bother me though; that's where I like being clean shaven and silky smooth.  Neck and mustache just needs to be clean.

I shave daily and have no issues.  :)

I shave my face the same day I shave my head, period. I usually shave the head first, then the face. I use Aloe Vera Gel as a lubricant, then an unscented shaving cream. I always use a 3-bladed disposable razor (store-brand or Xtreme 3), then I throw it away. I put the Aloe Vera back on after the shave.

Hot shower scrub face and head with exfoliating scrub every other day. (Nevia for men Stuff)
go to the sink hot water to head and face. work up a lather in my mug with AOS cream or soap that is in my other mug depending on the day. I'm with the old school style of shaving I  guess. I use a Murker barbers pole DE razor on my face with astra SP blades. I do 3 passes on the face WTG, XTG, ATG. I haven't used the Murker on my noggin yet but will probably start soon because I just not a fan of using the a Mach 3 which I have been using on my head going with the grain. after shavig wet down with cold washcloth. witch hazel everything. Nevia for men aftershave balm and splash of clubman or aqua velvet for the face.

Kojack that is a nice collection of DE razors I have been looking at moving to straights and have an imperial now getting honed to work with.

mine is pretty much the same as eric79....I use a de on my face and am now proficient enough to use it on the noggin....I used to use an aftershave balm...but found that it made any razor rash worse...so now I finish with a cold rinse, alum block, witch hazel and aloe vera....no more rash...and feels great

I hate shaving my face, plain and simple.  Hence I've grown out the beard.  But it does require some maintenance.

My routine is pretty simple.  I shave the face about once a week, but sometimes I'll go two weeks if I'm lazy.  I use a Norelco Beard Trimmer to even out the beard, take the guard off to trim any strays, trim the mustache and soul patch and trim the sideburns.

Then I lather up with AVEENO® POSITIVELY SMOOTH® Shave Gel and a Gillette Fusion Pro-Glide to shave the neck and clean-up the neckline.  Shave around the soul patch with the 6th blade and shave the cheek to create the cheekline. I get picky about the neckline so I go over that with the 6th blade as well and to make sure it's nice and crisp.

Rinse off with cold water, pat dry, and apply some face moisturizer.  No after-shave.  Done.
