Hey Gang,
Some of you know that back in the '80's I was the drummer and founding member of a fairly successful metal band
Got a record deal and sold 80,000 to 90,000 records from ’86 to ’88 or so. (Just short of a Gold Record !) Had the same manager as Dokken, Great White and Guns & Roses. Came up in the trenches in the L.A. scene and was buddies with all the L.A. biggies back then Dokken, Great White, Guns & Roses, Ratt, Motley Crue, Metallica, etc..etc..
Anyway, we only released one album, did some high rollin' and Rockin' & Rollin' before things fizzled and we were forced to go our separate ways in '89.
You can hear some of our stuff and read up...see pics, what not at www.myspace.com/letchengrey
Long story short, we recently got contacted by a record company in Vegas who has signed us to a re-release deal so our album will be redistributed in early '08 and we're talking with Ratt and Great White about the possibility of joining them in some sort of gigging capacity.
Just a heads up. My admin bros already knew about this. Thought I'd share with the main board.

First define "elderly" then: If they are good looking, they AREN'T GOING BACKSTAGE...they are going to the security office for a very thorough search. >:D

Very Cool Rob ... Do you still actively play your drums?

Very Cool Rob ... Do you still actively play your drums?
Yes...well up until March or so...so it's been about 9 months. But after playing for 30 years or so, the rust comes off pretty quickly.
-
i have experience with 80's bands.. did security for Trooper and Doug and the Slugs... so what you say robmeister can i be your personal security.... i'll ensure no one in a walker gets past the front door...
i like you album i don't buy a lot of music but i'll always support a friend and SBG. i'm going to pay for this one.
-
Rob, I also would be interested in seeing Letchen Grey if you came to Seattle. Maybe, Marz and myself could get a backstage pic with you for SBG's?
-
y'all are awesome, man.
While the re-release is definitely underway, the touring part is right now VERY tentative. We all live in different states. And just pulling together to rehearse for say one or two shows at the Rockloahoma festival would be a major accomplishment....let alone doing some sort of tour.
I'm not in a position, work- or family-wise to just quit my job and hit the road. The talks with Ratt and Great White have been along the lines of them saying, "Hey, man...why don't you guys reorganize and maybe you can join us for some shows or somethin'"
So while it would be AWESOME to do a tour of whatever degree...right now any substantial touring is wobbling on the boundries of practicality and feasibility.........but ya never know.
-
OK.....our CD should be re-released by the end of January. I'll keep you posted on where it can be purchased.
Also, unless something gets screwed up by not being able to take off work, I and the guitar player will be joining our singer in Dallas to rehearse for a couple days prior to the Rocklahoma festival....jumping on a bus, perhaps with Ratt and/or Great White, for the 3-hour trip.
Who's in the Dallas or Oklahoma area?
-
RM....that is awesome. wish i was in the dallas area around that time. definitely keep us posted. O0

Man Rob.............. I just listened and that's good stuff........... Flashed me right back to my twenties when I was a member of the "Lots of Hair Club for Men".................. Whoa! I think I got a hangover just thinking about it...... and a very strange hankerin' for some straight up shots of Jose Cuervo.........
-
Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have listened to one track so far and you guys ROCK!!!!
While I admit that I had not heard of you until SBG, you are taking my back to my college days. I remember being in the TV lounge at my dorm watching Night Tracks on WTBS (the campus cable didn't carry MTV) watching bands like this.
Anyway Robbie, ya got two thumbs up from me!
Marz and I are still looking for backstage passes if you come to Seattle! Hint! Hint! >:D

Thanks, Surfer!.....and after I beat ya up over on the "Beaches, Mountains, Deserts, etc..." post. (at least I gave you a friendly heads up).
Yeah, man....I lived in Redondo on a couple occasions. Once off Rockefeller Ln, in '88.....and once off Flagler, in '91. Great area!!
I actually didn't know you could look up the album on MP3.com
Well, it's official.....we're booked to play the Rocklahoma festival in July. Won't be able to make the SBG gathering in Chicago if I play that gig, though.
-
Bartender, Financial Advisor, and Rock Star....a true Renaissance Man.
-
we could always move the slycon to okla.............wait never mind. we will miss you buddy. ha ha
-
Rob,
I really like what I have heard from your band so far, great sound! I was a guitarist in a metal band here in Wy when I was attending the university in 1988-1992. We were called " Saucey Jack " after Jack the ripper. We played alot of local gigs and had a great time. I still play, but not much of a scene here in Wy.
-
OK....beyotches....it's been released.

Me too, but only if I can get a certain band member to autograph it ;D
-
LG didn't get on the roster for Rocklahoma. Our CD release was just a bit behind.
Couldn't'a done it anyway. If I could'a....I would'a joined y'all in Chicago.
Depending on my business momentum between now and then, I still MIGHT be able to join y'all.
-
Hey Gang....
Check out www.myspace.com/letchengrey

My first royalty check is "in the mail" for sales of our re-release CD......and it looks like we're on the bill for next summer's Rocklohoma Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma.

Check out this 1980-something ad from the Los Angeles Times.
The Troubadour is a club on Santa Monica Blvd. Same noteriety in the L.A. scene as The Whisky, The Roxy, etc..
Anyway, we're co-headlining on a Friday night in "big" print (quite a feat, by the way) and Guns & Roses is still strugglin on the weeknights in small print (see 4/24). What a world :D
