So, its been one solid month now since I went the Sly way and shaved off the mane... I have gotten the whole gammit of reactions, from my mother now being somewhat accustomed and not disturbed about the look (thank god for my scalp finally tanning up), to my buddies and the ladies telling me that they could not any longer imagine me with hair.
In general the reactions have been positive. I have even gotten use to shaving to the point now where it is a well worn routine, practically knowing my scalp like I know the back of my hand.
My question: what was the general 1 Month Anniversary for all ya'll. after the 1 Month, its old news, hence the reason I ask. Do you feel anyway like you did before, or do you feel like a new, Slier, more confident man?
-
It's been a while since my 1 month, but I think I was just hitting the ultra confidence level with it at that time. As much as I dug it the first month, I really started enjoying it starting the second month.
-
I had my four month anniversary just last week so remembering one month isn't too hard. For me I was still struggling with whether the sly look was for me. I would go 3-4 days without shaving especially if I was to see family or friends who hadn't seen me sly before. At that point I knew I liked the look and feel of being sly but was still concerned about what family and friends thought. Then I found SBG's and now my daily shave is just part of who I am.
-
Feb. 14th was my 1-month ann.
I'm diggin' it.....
I feel I have a much more dynamic and confident social persona.
Family, friends and collegues have all seen me by now with no problemas O0
-
Cool stuff. Just past two months myself. Wife still not diggin' my sly look...but I really don't care. Guess she really did have a thing for Gavin McLeod (Captn. Stubing on the "Loe Boat") after all...NOT. You'd think she'd be happy with it knowing how much I like it. Go figure... :(

I would do the exact same thing. And in fact, I probably did this for about the first two years. Now I'm finally to the point where pretty much everyone has seen my shaved dome and it doesn't matter so much anymore.

Maybe the reaction is more to the fact that its a change in you as well as the cut. the fact that you are more independent may scare her a little bit, or the fact that this could just be the beginning of that "Midlife Crisis" most women associate with the trophy wife phase; it could be the fact that she is not confident enough in herself, that you may be easily tempted and now are becoming more confident, therefore [possibly] more willing to give in to temptation. I mean, face it, you are now slier than you probably ever have been in the past, more women are looking at you with that "I want a piece of Schro" look in their eye ^-^. Best advice, make her feel like your "Trophy Wife", make her feel like she is the prettiest woman in the world, that could help her catch on to the look, if she feels "He might be more Sly, but I am the only one his Sly Eye has in Mind" if you know what I am saying! Make her feel the Bald Love Baby :@` Feel the new, Smitten, Sly Bald guy that you are! Maybe then she will start enjoying rubbing your Bald Head! >:D
-
Here's a great add on to this question, when was that moment when you realized that This was the look... Your "Trademark" O0... around how long?
-
All very good points, Mr. Clean !!!
My wife already knows that I think she is incredibly sexy and think the world of her. She has her own issues to deal with (being Super Mom and all...but I need an entire bottle of Ketel One to discuss that one, preferably in person). To be honest, I really have no idea what her hang up is regarding my new appearance. I really don't think she is viewing it as a possible mid-life thing and no, I haven't been eyeing little two-seater convertibles to satisfy some unfulfilled urges now that I'm 40. But I will admit, I haven't felt this good about my appearance in quite a while (even when I was about 18 pounds lighter in the midst of my marathon training).
She already has my sly eye my friend, she knows as much, and any issues relaying to my appearance entirely lie with her.
I'm not certain that I ever viewed this look as a "trademark". I just know it looks better on me than the "horseshoe of hair".
Schro (your average Ordinary American).
-
I woiuld say that about a month after "shaving" (it was actually using clippers) my head, I knew that I would never grow it back.
-
Decade+ anniversary here hehehe and needed more than ever lol with the bit thats left haha
-
Schro... I don't know what to tell you. She is one lucky lady it sounds like though. Maybe its just her... No accounting for taste. Your No ordinary american my friend, You are a Sly American... A Great American O0.
Tyler, I have to agree with you there my friend. I am at that point, and now its just Old hat to me. I will say, with a Month under my belt, it feels good to have all the minor stuff figured out, and to be able to have an Idea of what I am doing and what I need.
-
Hey Mr Clean! Congrats on being shaved for a solid month. The first time I shaved my head I knew it was for me. I really liked the look and the feel. My first month I made sure I shaved everyday to get use to the process and the new feel of my head. Now I know the direction of hair growth on my head so that I can shave against the grain to get the smoothest shave possible.
Since shaving, I feel liberated and more confident. It's really part of my everday routine like brushing my teeth. I always liked my hair short. But I like being bald better. This May, I'll be bald for a full year. Looking forward to summer to tan my noggin.
-
My one month was actually years ago when I shaved my head down with some clippers. It felt good. But my actual one month of going sly with a razor felt great. I was a little worried a first of what people thought but after that first month my confidence started to build.

I had the same feeling at first, actually I thought that I would not be sly for all to long depending on the Reaction. But if the number of Posts I have is any indication, the Reactions also were positive, and the Look is Here to Stay... Man it feels GREAT! ;D ;D ;D

Amen bro!!! O0
-
I started out taking the clippers to my head too. Started with a #4 blade and eventually worked my way down to leaving the guard off completely. At that point I started thinking about taking the razor to my head....but before I did that I bought an Andis Headliner where i was giving myself the closest possible dry shave. It still left my head rough and stubbly and proved to be to much work. So I got headblade and started shaving my head completely smooth! Eventually I switched to a Mach 3. I find it easier and doesn't nick as much.
But since then, I been shaving my noggin regularly except around this past xmas. Shaving is so routine for me now. No plans to grow it back.

Good for you bro. Welcome to the sly side. O0 When can we see a pic posted?
-
Well, RazorHead, glad to hear that you have adjusted well to being Sly. Thats always a great feeling when you finally find something that is You.
PhilDNY, all that I can say is that when life changes for the better, there is bound to be a point where the change is no longer new, but it is always welcome. Its good to hear that you are chill with the Look O0
Things that I am still not accustomed to after a little short of two Months:
*The feel of Womens' Fingers gliding over my Scalp [still and probably will always be Electric :D]
*The feel of a cold rain
*The comfortable feeling I constantly have going, Knowing that no matter what I look Solid and Feel Confident...
Its All Good ;D
-
well its been a month for me since going sly.....not going back to the monk ring...sly 4 life O0

hehe ... I am bald by choice for about one month now, too.
I thought about letting it grow again but now I shave every other day and it feels great.
Some ppl ask me to let it grow again because I look "nicer" but now after a couple of weeks everybody got used to it and I am not planning to let it grow again.
I like the look and I know that every time I let it grow again I thought about shaving again. Enough for that now ... I am staying bald and I love it!

I went through the same thing Christian, people saying "you looked better with hair" It does stop when people realize that this is who you are and that your are comfortable that way. Stick with it man, stay sly.

Today is 3 years for me, iam glad that i took the plunge and shaved my head, i had corn rows before i shaved it all off

Dude, I hope that you have pics of that! For some reason I have a hard time picturing you with Corn Rows (R^!

Been bald for 3 months now and I know I will never have hair again. I even shave twice a day for special occasions and I hate the feeling of stubble. My wife says I am never going to be allowed to grow it back and she loves the sly look.

This weekend is my 1-month sly anniversary. I love the look, and I wouldn't have done it if not for this site.

I dunno, but don't they have a pill for that now?

;D ;D ;D I am just beyond my six-month anniversary and, as others have mentioned, I am different and better being bald. Like PhilDNY and Blondeguy, I love the smoothness just after razoring, and shaving has become part of my morning routine. The three advantages I most appreciate: 1) it's totally honest; I don't have to convince myself of an illusion nor do I have to hope others are convinced by an illusion; 2) baldness is practical--no anxiety about wind or convertibles; no expenditures on useless drugs, etc.; and 3) it's realistic, making me the best and most self-determined man I can be. No temptation to regrow hair; increasingly unwilling to tolerate even a day's worth of stubble. Wife has equally strong positive response; and I get many more affectionate/erotic hugs, rubs, and touches than when I had thinning hair. And yes, thanks are in order: SBG and your 'go-for-it' feedback did help me turn the corner. Professoor Melon

Come on now Schro! Someone needs to take some more lessons from "The Ladies Man" Leon Phelps! :*))

Approaching the one month anniversary of going sly. The advice I received here was to give it a month before you decide if it is working....I knew after the first shave that it was the way to go and I was never turning back. Tossed a "hair system" after 13 years. Spent too much time trying to make it look natural...now, what could be more natural than sly. Shaving has become a fun part of my daily routine. The reactions have been overwhelming and positive.
Thanks SBG's for your advice and support.

That's awesome Mike!! Glad SBG was able to help you along.

That's great, Mike. Time flies when you're being sly. What a life-changer shaving your head can be.
-
Congratulations Mike. Glad being sly has been so positive.

Tomorrow marks 1 month for me. Was thinking of celebrating by purchasing a Schro-like shirt...since I'm a big fan of Tori Richards Hawaiian shirts! Noticed a SLY model dominating the TR Spring catalog! O0
-
Congratulations on the anniversary KA. Gonna wear the shirt to a Sox game?
-
Congrats Mike. Ditto for me. Today marks 2 weeks and I can't imagine going back O0
-
I am also at a month give or take a few days. Whenever I first started posting here was when I shaved it. Al I can say is that I love it and don't ever intend to go back. I shave roughly every 2-3 days unless I am going out then it always gets a fresh shave.

Ah ... always imitated, never duplicated. 8)
Tori Richards are a good choice.
Sly & aloha shirts can't be beat.
-
Me like Schrowaiian shirts!!!
-
I didn't realize, but it's my 1 month anniversary too. It just feels natural now. I can't imagine going back to the pointy haired boss look.

Congrats KilboArnie & Mike. It only gets better. I have now been shaving for a good three months, and I can say that it only gets better from here. You learn the ways about things, you have the sly working HardCore,
and if your smooth, You'll choose to rock the MR. CLEAN look as well! You know what, correction, we are all smooth here, just some of us choose to rock the smooth look to the Extreme! HardCore all the way! O:O
-
Thanks Mr. Clean...I am enjoying it more each day. Still running across people seeing me for the first time since shaving and the feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Only a couple of "What happened to your hair?"
Not sure I am quite ready for the totally Mr. Clean look yet, but might give it a try sometime. Have had the mustache and goat for a long time.
-
Congrats KalboArnie and Mike on the 1 month. O0 It makes you wonder sometimes why you haven't been doing it all along, doesn't it? Well, it don't matter now as long as you keep it sly. O:O

I take offense to that! My mind is ALWAYS in the gutter! O:O :*))
Happy Anniversary Yosp... I am sure that the majority shares my sentiments "Its not the Clothes that make the man sly, as it can also be said its not the Hair or lack of it either... Its the Guy & how he rocks it/carries himself with confidence that defines any look as Sly"
Rock on my Sly Bretherin!
-
Today marks my 1 month anniversary. Hopefully, the first of many to come. Now, how should I celebrate? Maybe an extra shave today, just to savor the feeling...

I'm at about a month and a half and I think I'm getting to that point also. While it is true that new guys who are new to SLY should give it the 30 day trial. I think the 2nd month is when you "get in your grove".

The longer you're sly, the better you like it. Once you get past that third month, it's virtually impossible to go back.

the fact that you are more independent may scare her a little bit, or the fact that this could just be the beginning of that "Midlife Crisis" most women associate with the trophy wife phase;
I once had a buddy who had a trophy. Only problem is, I don't think it was first place.

Bros, I totally missed my 1 month anniversary!!! I don't know how I could have missed it, but it was on June 30th, last Saturday. I followed suggestions from several of you to keep my dome sly for 30 days and then evaluate the situation.
I gotta say, I've totally loved being sly. I have skipped a day or two but anymore than that and I start going crazy and just have to shave!!! So, it looks like I'm SLY FOR LIFE!!! This forum has been a lifesaver for me with all the great info on routines, dealing with razor burn, etc. and I appreciate the great feedback from you bros!
I definitely won't forget any further sly anniversaries! Thanks for the encouragement fellas!
-
Fourth of July was one month for me!
next week I get those damn cherry angioma's off my head
I want to stay sly for life!

What you will forget is what you looked like with hair. It sounds like you are a lifer, and you really do rock the sly look. I think I said before that I can't imagine you with hair; it looks that natural on you.
-
Scott, I love the new pic. You are definitely a picture of what SLY is supposed to be like. O:O
