General Discussion / Changing Hairstyle Temporarily« Last post by jason_greets on February 15, 2025, 02:28:06 PM »I have been shaving my head bald since July 2023, but recently I'm in the mood for something a bit different. I was recently laid off from my job and I thought this was a great opportunity for me to get a mohawk. It has been about a week since I last shaved my head and my hair is short, but noticeable. Next week I will try to see if I can get a mohawk and show it here. I will keep the sides shaved bald. I wouldn't mind sporting a military mohawk haircut until I get a job interview.

Reactions to being Bald / Re: Lack of reactions these days« Last post by jason_greets on February 15, 2025, 02:20:52 PM »Maybe this explains the almost total lack of traffic to this site. Personally I think it has to do more with the fact that more people have migrated from bulletin boards like this to other social media platforms. On Reddit there is a chat called "r/bald" that has a lot of daily activity. 4
To be or not be...Bald / Re: The creeping return of the insidious comb-over« Last post by slybeard on February 15, 2025, 10:20:22 AM »I have not noticed any increase here, but there are some in the 75+ crowd that have had the combovers for the past 30 or 40 yeas and refuse to give up on them.

To be or not be...Bald / The creeping return of the insidious comb-over« Last post by Semi-Sly on February 15, 2025, 10:14:23 AM »hi guys, I am a barber and I still work two days a week and what I have noticed lately is the proportion of my customers who are sporting coworkers. I mean some of these guys are parting their hair from the top of their ear and combing it completely over their heads! there?s more and more and more of them lately. It?s like they?re in a time warp!
I cut one guy here yesterday and I kid you not. The comb overs were almost 9 inches long.! Have you guys been noticing more comb overs lately. 6
Head Shaving / Re: Oster Fast Feed vs Wahl Balding« Last post by Magoo on February 13, 2025, 03:14:33 PM »I have a pit bull head shaver. Not as close as a razor, but closer than balding clippers , I would presume. Hair grows about 1/8 of an inch per week.
I agree with sly beard , the difference between shavers would be insignificant in one week. 7

Head Shaving / Re: Oster Fast Feed vs Wahl Balding« Last post by dk on February 13, 2025, 11:12:54 AM »My oyster has interchangeable blades and they include 000, 0000, and 00000 blades. The Oster Fast Feed does NOT have interchangeable blades, just one blade of adjustable length: https://www.osterpro.com/barbers-stylists/clippers/oster-fast-feed-adjustable-pivot-motor-clipper/SAP_76023510001.html. You have something else. Even though you may get it closer, I doubt you will see a significant difference with a weekly trim. That's my suspicion as well. The difference between 000 and 6x0 is something like 0.2mm. That much can grow very quickly. I guess I will have to either switch to a razor or start trimming twice weekly. 9
