Once every 4-6 months at Great Clips.  In fact, their last job made me decide to shave it.  It looked like a sideways Mohawk when they were through.

8-9 times a year by a "barber" who charged when I finally accepted sly, $30 or $35 a clip--and I'm not looking it up to see :x!!  The last time was buzzing it down to a #2, one week after taking it to a #3--from then on I took it to a #1, then no guard on the "Shave Day!"  8)

This probabley sounds unbelievable, but I have had the same woman cut my hair since my very first hair-cut.

I dind't grow hair on my head until around age 4.  Sometime near my 5th birthday I received my first haircut.  As you could imagine, I was the only 4 year old that knew who Telly Savalas was!

Since that point I've had the same person cut my hair.  All the way to the end when she buzzed me down with the 1 guard.  From there, I took care of things on my own.

Definately SLY FOR LIFE!

I went to several different stylists over the years, usually about once a month.  When I got down to a #2 buzzcut, I was going every two weeks and then I eventually switched to a regular barber because it was just too cost prohibitive to keep going to the stylist.  As the haircuts got shorter, I started going to the barber once a week.  I finally came to the realization, once I was down to a 0000 cut, that it would be a lot cheaper and easier to just shave the dome clean.

from 1979 to about 1999 I had the same style; keeping it at least 1 inch to cover the transplants; maybe even 1.5 inches on top. That has certainly changed.

Ha!  Every time I told them to cut it any way they liked, they would cut it just the same.  :)

You only got a haircut 2-3 times a year?

I used to get it buzzed and then let it grow back.  It grows slow, but the stubble seems to sure come back fast.

Mastercuts in the mall about every 6-8 weeks.  Then I bought my own clippers and the last 4 years I just buzzed it at home.

Don't miss those days at all....

I went to the same girl for years..... aboout every other month. She was hot as Hell and I would let her do whatever she wanted to my hair....... even got a perm once because she wanted to do it. Never asked her out because she was married but she definetly had her flirt on with me.

This was years ago before real thinning took place on my noggin.

I went to a girl at a locally owned shop for years.  I got my hair cut every three weeks.  It cost me $15 plus tip.  I know I spend a lot on shaving supplies now, but it's still cheaper than haircuts.

I married the "girl" that used to cut my hair, back when I had hair.  She retired about 15 years ago, so I started going to others and then barbers.  The cuts go shorter and shorter until it was a buss cut for $10.  I bought some clippers and did it myself for a couple of years.   ....and then I found Sly Bald Guys and the rest is history.

my sister in law is a hair dresser so I would just always go to her.  But then it got to where I was trimming it short so I just did it at home.  But I would get it cut about every 3 weeks or so

Yeah ::Thats exactly what happened with me..!! But i knew there was only so much they could do with my thinning hair....I do remember telling them on a few occasions too just buzz it all off in hopes it might be some kind of improvement--and yes they did talk me out of it...
Probably knew they would lose me as a customer and couldnt go on without my wit and humor every 4 months or so.........And they did talk me into a perm once__Was so glad it grew out and was gone........!

When I was in my early 20s I either had a fade with my hair brushed to the side on the top, or a flattop.  I used to get it done once a month by a barber or a couple guys in my dorm that would cut hair.  The thing I hated about those hairstyles was that they grew out so freaking fast: they'd look great for a couple days and then they looked like they were growing out.  I didn't want to go more than once a month because that just seemed like too much of a hassle.  A 7 mile drive to my barber every week or so?  Scheduling an appointment every week or so?  Sheesh.  No thanks.

Then after college I started buzzing my own hair.  Standard buzzcuts were easy, but fades were hard.  I got the brilliant idea: if I cut my own fade I could keep it looking sharp indefinitely!  That required a halfhour haircut every other day.  Yes, that got old fast.  While buzzcuts are easy I didn't like the length on the back and sides so after two months of cutting a fade I went sly permanently.

My wife was a beautician, so I never set foot in a barber shop for 33 years.  After she got sick, I started going to a barber shop by the house.  They never cut my hair as well as Carol did.  After loosing the bet to my sly neighbor, the sly barber did the initial shave for me.    He was so pleased , he didn't even charge me.  Life is Good!

About once every 4 weeks at the barber. He's a fun guy and I enjoyed talking with him. But then I moved to another town and at the same time decided I might as well buy clippers and buzz my hair myself. I have to say that between those monthly visits there were too many frustrating days trying to make my head look even half-decent.

I used to go to my barber about 2 times a month to get a #2 or #1 buzz until he actually suggested that I have my head shaved. i haven't really made it beyond a #2 since that time. I am now shaving my head every day now since about a fortnight ago. On the "30-day rule" schedule, now & am 15 days into the process of accepting being bald on a permanent basis.

After I got married, my wife cut my hair. It usually worked out to about once a month. It was a relatively short cut. Now that I'm doing my own daily, it's no trouble at all.

When I was in the AF, at LEAST every two weeks, sometimes once a week.  $10-$20 a cut.  After, every two weeks, sometimes once a month with a minimum of $20.00 bucks a cut.  Barbers or Super Great Hair Clip Masters.  Even if I change out my blades on my HB once a week, it's still $8.00 a month vs $20-$40.  It was actually a "stylist" messing with my "thin spot" on the crown of my head that convinced me to go back to sly.

You name it, I've done it, including the perm thing.  :/O  Got my first flattop way back in 1986 and kept it for a few months and let it grow out.  Did the flattop grow out thing I don't know how many times until around 2001 and kept the flattop for the most part.  It wasn't too bad back then, I had a good barber that knew how to cut a good flattop, the chat was good and it wasn't too expensive, going about every two weeks.  In 2005 I did my first head shave, kept it for a few months and returned to the flattop.  Shaved it again in 2006, that only lasted for a week.  In 2009 I let a barber do the deed, reducing my overgrown flattop to SLY, that lasted for 4-5 months and I went back to the flattop.  So here we are today, SLY and loving it.  Will it last?  I hope so....   O0

Yup, today is perfect for head shaving. Take it slow and enjoy the feeling when you're finished. I think I'll do it myself.

Prior to shaving, if I wanted a traditional haircut I went to my childhood barber (whom I still go to when I want to shape up my facial hair and/or I let the sly dome grow out too far) When I got a special haircut (one with designs) I went to a guy on the other side of town (much to my family's dismay) Since going sly, I visit the barber once a month for camaraderie purposes ($10 bucks for a headshave and a beard trim). I've learned to shave my head more and visit barbershops less since joining.

I've heard that many barbers aren't shaving anymore because spreading blood born...and legal problems. And also to beware of the ones still shaving because of bacterial spread. I know many on here do it...Laura and Harry... I'd like to have a shave, but should I?

Would go every 2 weeks to a stylist at $18 a pop plus tip to get the easiest professional cut they give.  Buzzcut with a #3.5 on top and #1 on the sides.  Looked great for first 4 days and then quickly would grow out that I couldn't wait to get it cut again.  Then bought an Andis and blades and started doing my own 3 years ago.  Today Head Blade and shave cream on the sides and a .00000 Andis clipper blade on top. Wonderful to control your own haircutting cycle and save a lot of $$ as well.  Would never go back to a stylist/barber as SLY for life.

I´m still going to the barber, I usually have a haircut likes my pic profile (spiked bang and top, and short sides and back) every 5 or 6 weeks. Usually for summer a 1# or 1,5# all over. One time I tried something similar to a long HnT. The two times I shaved my hair i did it at home, previous 0# buzzcut at barber (in Spain is not usually that the barbers shaves your head).

The last summer i bought a Philips clippers, and i buzzed my hair every week or two weeks during 6 months, but now i have long hair again.

From about 2004-2010, I went to the same barber shop to basically get a buzz cut with a chinstrap beard. At first, it was once a month, followed by twice a month. Due to easiness of my hairstyle, and the fact I used to go before church on Fridays, I was bounced from barber to barber in that place (a place where they enjoyed my nice tipping habits.) Working overnight in 2010 led me to buy my own clippers and grow a beard. At first, I kept some hair on the top of my head, until I went back to a buzz cut back in November. And in late January, I went sly!

As a teen, my dad made me go to a regular barber.  He was not in favor of long hair.  He was a conservative police officer.  Back then he had thought long hair was for rebellious hippie types.  Then my stepmom convinced him to let me try to be like the other kids.  So at that point, I sported a white man's afro....all without a perm!  That was courtesy of my stepmom's stylist.  When I went to college, I quit using a pic on my hair.  So it was more of a medium length.  At that point I went to Fantastic Sam's.  Later on, still going to Fantastic Sam's, I sported a mullet.....yikes!  That was short lived because when I was 30, I first noticed that the hair in the front was thinning.  After that it was to the barber for crewcuts.  Finally in 1997, I went to a Seattle Mariners game where they had Jay Buhner Buzz Cut Night.  You went sly to get into the ballgame for free.  Since then I pretty much have been sly with some very short times of growing it back!
