After I began to shave my head bald regularly, I still wore a baseball cap to work because I was a bit afraid of what people would say. I would wear one before to hide my shaggy hair.
One day I decided that I would rather not wear baseball caps anymore and one day I came to work without one. No one said anything about it except for one person who would just comment she couldn't imagine me with this new look. My sister said she was surprised I did it.
The worst reaction an acquaintance from an even I used to host laughing a bit, but it was only that night.
I don't care anymore. In fact because of the look, convenience, and how much money I've saved on haircuts I have contemplated laser the hair off. I will just shave for the time being.

Right, it also demonstrates that other people take our hairstyle much lass seriously that all of us do. Especially these days when a shaved head is so mainstream that it's just another haircut!

Thanks @reddog @buddha and @Razorhead All good stories and worth repeating Never underestimate the power of being too caught up in their own stuff to pay much attention

That was it. No disapproving remarks or drawn out overreaction.
End of story.

And that's usually how it goes! I had a meeting with one of our directors at work and he said only said 'you and john use the same stylist'. John was a coworker with a shaved head and goatee. We looked like twins -- although it was becoming standard look. I think my favorite comment was when I resigned and sent out out a farewell note someone replied with "we will miss you.....and you really know how to pull off a shaved head'."

I'm thinking that I probably wrote about this years ago (around the turn of the century-talk about feeling old!) when my late wife and I owned a mobile espresso truck. One of the businesses we served was a beauty shop in a nearby town and when we started in the business I had hair down to my shoulder blades. Several times hair stylists in this salon had either trimmed off my "split ends" or braided my hair so they were familiar with my locks up close and personal. At that time I was jogging around 5 miles a day and the area of the country where we lived was infested with deer flies during the spring though early autumn. One day I went out jogging and several flies divebombed me and got caught in my hair which was not braided or tied back. If you're not familiar with these hellish beasts they buzz like dentist drills and by the time I got back to the house I had decided that I was going to "scrape the grape" and did so. I donated the hair via USPS to Locks Of Love. The next time I drove the route I walked into the aforementioned salon with a little concern for how my new look would be received. One of the stylists who had been more familiar with my hair than the others looked at me and asked me if I had lost weight. After that I knew everything would be okay.

This reminds me of when I first started shaving my head. I had a gal living with me, she was shocked when I shaved my full head of hair but by the end of the day she said she loved it, and wanted me to keep it. After a few months, I think she tired of the bald head, and wanted me to grow my hair back. So I was about 8 weeks into growing it and I suddenly had the urge, so while she was at work, I shaved my head smooth. I thought she might freak out when she came home but no comment. Then we run a couple errands and then stopped for dinner at a pizza restaurant. After deciding on a pizza, ordered, and we were waiting, she finally said " oh, you shaved your head again".

I had stayed shaven for three years before going the laser route. I was left with some patchy dark areas after the first 3-4 treatments. It?s been a couple of years and I?m still pretty much shadow free. I have quite a bit of white hair left. It?s easier to shave now, but it would be nice to not have to shave every day.

Hi guys
Thought I would share a story about a reaction from my boss, from one of the first times I had gone into the office after shaving off a #2 buzz head of hair to fully bald -
So, I had done a full razor headshave the one evening after getting home from work, and I got a text from my boss later that evening about attending an important meeting the following morning with a big potential new client. I remember thinking Oh well, here goes!
So I get to meeting place the next day, we even have a brief catchup and strategy discussion prior to meeting.
Nothing about my bald head. Not a word.
So the meeting goes on for about an hour. As we're walking out leaving the building, I notice him looking at my head and then looking again with a slightly comical but surprised look in his eyes. Ha ha, finally, I thought to myself.
The next day there was a brief quip about Kojack, I can't even remember exactly what it was.
So there we go.
That was it. No disapproving remarks or drawn out overreaction.
End of story.
Key take away - don't overthink it!

@chuck63 Thanks for sharing your story and I have read a few of your posts. When did you feel that you were ready to be a permanent bald guy (i.e. to go for scalp laser hair removal)? It is certainly a big decision to go for it. Did others notice the difference (i.e. the no shadow look)? If you go for electrolysis, that would be an interesting experience. I have heard of guys going for tweezing after laser hair removal to become completely bald. I have decided to keep my head shaved bald and hope to be bald for life. That said, I am not at the stage to go for scalp laser hair removal. I am just interested in other people's experience.

Hi and thanks @chuck63 and @Razorhead Yip it can be fun to change things up from time to time (although I've definitely let the mop get too long in recent times) Can see myself being more likely to experiment with a little covering during the colder months. The one time I did a shave during late autumn/fall and the weather suddenly turned cold, I ended up wearing a beanie almost 24/7 for about two weeks
