I know that fire haircuts exist, but do fire headshaves exist?

?Kids; don?t try this at home?!

?You are playing with fire!?

Thanks @reddog and @Semi-Sly, I don't have folliculitis, my spot(s) are at the crown and on top of my head/scalp and there are only 3 or 4 of them. Anyway, I guess I kind of went off track here and didn't really answer the question, reasons you have for staying bald.  I guess first and foremost, I challenged myself to being 'Sly' for one year. I want to stay bald. Is there anything better than the feel of a freshly shaved head? I think I look good with a shaved head, and then a day, week, month later I don't think I look good with a shaved head. Anyway, I've passed the 5-month mark of being Sly by choice and am closing in on a half year of being bald. I am totally committed to staying bald for a full year, but recently I've been having thoughts about what will I choose to do once my one-year commitment is fulfilled....stay bald, back to a flattop, grow it out to who knows what....

Anyway, thanks for the question and thanks to all who have answered/replied, this has been the most replied to post in quite some time.

I stay bald because when I grew my hair back, I just wanted to be bald again.  I feel way more confident bald

@Kromedome , when I break out it's like acne on steroids. Almost like boils. I went to a dermatologist and sfter a couple topical lotions didn't work, she suggested long term antibiotics. I didn't want to do that so I told her I would just keep shaving.

That condition is probably the main reason I don't grow back my hair very long. The sores arecquite painful. I suffered with frequent break out for many years, and if was really great when I first shaved my head and it cleared up within a few days.

I have the same problem on the back of my head/neck.  My dermatologist told me that it is folliculitis caused by allowing the shaven hairs to grow out just a bit - because they seem to get impacted into the hair follicles.  She told me that I have two choices:
1. allow the hair on the back of my head/neck to grow out fully past the impaction stage, or;
2.  Keep that area clean shaved so that they do not grow out to the skin line.

I HATE having long(ish)/any hair on the back an sides of my head so I always keep those areas shaved

And "voila"!  No more folliculitis!

I shaved my head for the first time over nine years ago. I went back and forth for about four years.  I?ve kept myself bald for over five years now and I can?t imagine growing my hair back at this point.  Shaving my head is part of my routine and I don?t skip too many days.  I like the way I look and the feeling of a freshly shaven scalp can?t be beat!

We've heard many different reasons about our decision to shave off our hair. I've attempted to grow back my hair a couple dozen times but I always find a reason to shave it all off again. One good reason is that I break out in a terrible case of folliculitis mostly on the back of my head. It completely disappears when I keep it shaved, but always returns when I stop shaving. Other reasons I keep shaving is that I love the clean feeling of a bald head. I guess we can always come up with some reasons to keep running that razor over our heads!
Hey reddog, I'm not sure what folliculitis is, but I do have several spots on my head that get really dry and scaly when I have hair. One spot was biopsied for cancer a couple years ago. These spots are a bit red but they don't get dry and scaly when I shave my head. I have a dermatologist appointment next week, we'll see what the doc has to say. Cheers!!!

@Semi-Sly , I'm just the opposite. I think when I wear a snow white flattop it makes me look older. I guess I think a shaved head is a little edgy and non conformist. When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, the only guys that had a flattop were old men, holding on to a 50's hairstyle. Of course the flattop became popular again in the 90's, and I wore one for a few years then.

It's great we see different styles different personally. As I've gotten older, I think less about what people think, and just go for what I like myself. Most of the time I like having a smooth bald noggin!

Well, I am joining in on a cancer fund-razor event on or about New Year's Eve so I will keep it shaved after that for at least four months - and then maybe who knows?
