So, after around 4 years of debating this issue, I finally had my hair chopped yesterday.
I woke up this morning and though "Oh God... What have I done!!"
That said, I don't think I'd put the pony tail back even if I could, I just think it's going to take a little time to get used to...
I find that I feel a bit scared to see my friends, and as for going back to work... It'll be interesting!
One thing I have noticed though is that, as I did have a bit of a rubbish hair cut, people did look... (pony tail and bald on top, not the best look!) and now that doesn't seem to happen...
Just a couple of random thoughts there, I guess I want to get my insecurities out a bit. I am sure I'll grow into the look (It's shaved as close as my barber could do it, rather then sly, that'll come though...) I see the photo's of all the guys on this site and think "Wow! They look so cool!" ... Just not feeling to cool myself right now.

Welcome. Like all things new, it takes a bit of getting used to. That's why the 30-day challenge is there.
The best part about dealing with friends reactions is getting past focusing on 'the look' to touching on what you are comfortable with and why. You might feel a bit awkward and unsure, but people realise that you deliberately chose to do a fairly bold thing, and that there must be some reason for your decision. In various ways they respect that, whether they like it or think it strange.
Don't avoid your friends or be awkward around them, meet them with a smile, and be amazed at the reactions you get (good and weird!!). Have fun.

One friend of mine has his barber wet shave his noggin with a straight razor every Saturday morning and then he gets a massage right after. It's a "for men" kind of spa. Licensed barbers, Nationally Certified Massage Therapists. He swears he's seen everyone from his mailman to the mayor in the place.

I think for me the acid test is going to be going to work on friday and having a hundred people all at one see the new me! (Well, that and the date I have lined up... :) )

Hi there!
Well, it's been just over a week now of this new me! It's great! I love it!
So I thought I'd share a few thoughts with you all...
Firstly I'm amazed at the overwhelmingly postitive response it's got... espicially from the ladies :)
I work in a large place, so a week later it's still new to some people, so I'm getting 2 or 3 compliments a day on it still! I am so not used to that sort of thing!
It's been so much easier than I expected for me to get used to it as well! A couple of days later and it's like I never had a dodgey barnet in the first place!
Another thing that I didn't expect is the tingly and tight feeling in my scalp as it adjusts... oddly it felt like the old pony tail is pulled back even tighter, although that's fading now.
I'm not going to say that I wish I'd done it sooner, as I had to wait for the right time and do it for me and not anyone else, so it meant being single for a while and getting used to that first. Then off it came...
And I do have to say again, this site has been awesome! Thank you so much for all the confidence you've all given me!
