I've found that the more expensive doesn't always mean better. I use plain old Dial bar soap in the shower. It's pretty slippery and works great for me.

I?ve used Edge Cooling Gel for the past year.  The cooling sensation feels good and it has a nice scent.

Wally World used to carry a thing called "Shave Secret". It was a small bottle of oil and after showering I would apply it to my head while the skin was still wet. After that I put on whatever shave cream I was using but a really nice one was Cremo which was really slick. The oil in Shave Secret softens the hair a little bit, I guess, but the main advantage I noted was that it seemed to make my skin a little slicker. Head Blade used to have a shave cream also, I don't recall the name but I can't imagine them having given up on it.
I'm not familiar with Bald Bros so I can't give any kind of report on that.

I use Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel. It's a good price and I don't nick myself at all. It has a nice lubricating property to it which helps with the razor getting a nice glide over my skin. I used to apply King of Shave Oil first and then the Aveeno on top to prevent irritation and rash. But the Aveeno alone works just as well. I get great results.

I've used the Headblade shave cream and I didn't find it as effective as the Aveeno.

Also, you may need to change your blade more frequently or get a better blade. I like fusion 5 blades. I was a huge fan of the Mach 3 razor and used it for years, but when I switched to the 5 blade I was much happier with the results. Less irritation! I also think that's when I may have stopped using the KOS oil.

Head Shaving / Re: Oster Fast Feed vs Wahl Balding

It takes long enough to DE shave my face every 2-3 days. I do enjoy it but I simply don't have time to DE shave my head and my face.

It's true....having both a clean-shaven head and face is a lot of work. Although I love how clean it looks, I usually end up growing my beard back in. I would try rotating (head one day and face the next day), but I hate not having my noggin as smooth as possible.

I wish I could get used to wearing a buzzcut, but I don't like how I look with one. So either I grow a flattop or shave it daily.

Yes, there is definitely a time commitment to wearing a shaved head. I find a quick shave in the shower everyday is the best for me. Of course I've been retired for years so I have the time.

Thanks guys and apologies for disappearing (life drama).

I'll pass on the Wahl Balding and just switching to using my Fast Feed 2x/week in that case. Agreed it doesn't make much sense that the difference would be noticeable after a week.

RE: shaving. Not what I want at this point. It takes long enough to DE shave my face every 2-3 days. I do enjoy it but I simply don't have time to DE shave my head and my face. Plus, I have enough hair that I can pull off the very short buzz look so it's my preference anyway.

Appreciate the answers!

To be or not be...Bald / Re: The creeping return of the insidious comb-over

Yes, I have several friends that are holing on to a few scraps of hair and combing it over. I don't say anything, but they would look so much better with aa shaved head. At least do a buzzcut!!

This. To me a buzzed or a shaved bald head looks cleaner and younger than hanging on to some remaining strands. I haven't reached that stage...yet.

If I do, I'll just shave or lazer it off (if it's feasible).
