Bald Stories / Re: How much hair have you lost?

I'd say I'm definitely in the Norwood 5 range now, with a clear NW6 pattern developing. There?s significant thinning in both the front and the crown, and what?s left is basically a narrow bridge of hair across the mid‑scalp. Seeing a recent photo really drove it home. Between the thinning and the silvery hair, it felt like the right time to shave it off again. I bounce back and forth between having hair and a shaved head. I?m genuinely happier bald anyway.

The funny part is I started shaving my head 20 years ago when I still had a full head of hair. The thinning happened gradually over time, but the shaved look has always felt like the most natural fit for me.

Not yet bald, but last April I took a selfie of the top of my head and noticed quite of bit of thinning.  From eye level it looks normal.

At some point if it becomes very noticeable, I will just laser the rest off.

Reactions to being Bald / Re: What was YOUR reaction?

So my first shave when the barber turned me around I just was kinda shocked and went " wow im really bald" I loved it but it was definitely a shock from even a buzzcut.

My

Same for me. All my life I had hair in a way, from a short buzzcut to shaggy.

But I wanted a dramatic new change that I never had before. I also pierced my ears for the first time.

Now it's just more practical rather than going to the barber every month, which I did not like because I couldn't quite figure out which haircut I wanted.

After the second laser session (just before the third)

It looks amazing!

I've thought about doing the same, but as long as I can still grow my hair without obvious balding I will not take the plunge.

I think I'm hitting that point myself.

Last November I left my hair grow out normally to change my style for the first time in more than two years. I noticed that it didn't have as much volume as before I started shaving my head.  Then last April, I was touching my head hair and I decided to take a photo of the top of my head.

Then I noticed that it was thinner than I thought. That evening I decided to buzz my hair with a #2 guard. Then when I visited my mother, she cut it down a bit more on the sides. Since temperatures have been rising here in Texas, I decided just to shave it all off while also growing my facial hair. Previously, I only had a moustache.

I'm liking this look again! I think it makes me look more masculine and not so babyfaced.
