Hey all,
This is my first post to the forum, im a UK member from accross the Atlantic, and at present wondering whether or not i would look better going the bold way. Have gone through the posts on here since i first found it about 2 days ago, have just found it a great place to look on as it has so much amusing yet honest information/posts on it. Just finding it hard to decide as at university, being quite young, and have already had comments made about my receeding line by my friends. It is hereditary so have sort of expected it, but have only just come to a realisation i should do something about it.
So i have posted my pic, and am wondering whether or not it would be better to go bold now whilst have at least some hair on top, rather than end up having no hair on the top and having to make a decision, already looking a bit silly with the side bits.
not entirely sure how to put other pics up on here, as do have another of the top for better confirmation lol.

Welcome Jimmy. Glad you found us. From the pic you posted I wouldn't see any reason for not going sly all the way. Your hair is already receding back pretty far so it wouldn't be a drastic change for you and I'm sure it will make you feel like new man. Go for it bro and if you don't like it you can always let it grow back in. I think the sly look would fit you well. Take care. O0

Dude, you have a large forehead (like i did)..you'll see how that disappears...eventhough you still have hair, it's not what you want...
shave it, you'll see how cool it is to have it all gone...and you'll feel so much more in control of your life..you'll see!

Cheers for all the info guys, I think i will end up taking it all of. Cheers BaldAndre aswell, i thought i had a big forehead, hopefully as you have stated it will suddenly not stand out like a sore thumb.
Just wondering, should i give it a go with the hair clippers on #0 to see, then use my mach 3, or???
Slightly clueless as only used to shaving my face not my nugget.

Perfect...just let me correct it like this....eliminate "to see"...
it goes, clip down with a 0 blade, then follow by a mach 3 treatment!

I agree with BALDANDRE, I clipped down as short as possible, then I used a head blade. Shave the head every other day. Go for it!!

Welcome Jimmy! You're so close already that it shouldn't be much of a shock to anyone. Get busy with those clippers, or just go to a local barber and him/her take it down to a zero. Then it's just you and the blade... with plenty of advice here on what to use and how to do it. Good luck, and post soon.

As someone of the same age and somewhat similar circumstances, I say absolutely that shaving it will be the best thing you ever did for you hair. Almost 100% certainty that you will like being sly better than just a short buzz, especially if your hair is already receded pretty far.

Shave it off. It'll be soft and numb that first time (don't we all miss that), and you'll get a kick out of feeling every air current in the room until your scalp acclimates. You'll feel liberated.

Shave it off, it already looks pretty short, you know already that you look ok with it so dont worry.

Alright guys, here you go... I am rather suddenly, after a long bath, a SlyBaldGuy...
I like it... but it does look rather weird/odd, just trying to get used to it.
On the plus side, i didnt cut myself after using the mach 3 lol.

you do look way better, not like a balding young guy...don't make a desicion this minute ( you don't need to)...enjoy how good it feels, cool, huh? Does NOT look odd!!!
But trust me (us) shave the dome everyday if you can,,,don't let it go stubbly for your experimental period...I bet you WILL never go back to hair...

Welcome to the world of the sly....congratulations on making the transition, completely sly looks so much better than partly bald. Going the final step will make you feel totally liberated. It's a great feeling, after 2 weeks I am still energized.

Like BaldAndre said, give yourself time to adjust. Slap on a pair of shades and walk to your classes with your slyness on! I guarantee your friends won't make anymore receeding hairline cracks :)

O0Ahoy, Jimmy. My mates have given you some solid advice based on experience. I can add only that you'll feel relieved at embracing what Mother Nature clearly intended. Bald is bold, honest, clean, and, in most cases, more flattering than the horseshoe, the comb-over, or inevitably expensive and unsuccessful "replacements." Most of the guys, especially those of us who have some years, will tell you that we wish we had gone sly long before we did. BTW, what are you studying and where? At present Im at University in the UK, studying Paramedical Science, basically what i need to at the end become a British Paramedic, there is a lot of anatomy/physiology and pharmacology aswell as social issues within it, its a good course with hopefully a good ending.
As for the advice on here, its been, in a word, Great. I dont think i would have done it without the support from you guys, i was just rather appreciative to find such a site, as i wasn't aware that any such resource existed. Im still considering a goatee though! (as advised by the wise Professor Melon)

Welcome aboard! I must agree with the other fellows, going SLY looks way better on you than the partial hair. Honestly...Dont you just just feel like a different person! I had the typical receding hairline like I told all the other brothers, but no hair loss at all. But I just shaved it all off in January and I LOVE IT. I really do. Just gives me that certain image, its hard to explain. Ill tell you this too, I dont have to worry about hair gel or shampoo now. Its awesome. My fiancee loves the new look and she cant stop rubbing my head haha...I think she got sick of all the gel I used and I used alot...but again, welcome aboard and hope you enjoy your new look...cause I know now Ill NEVER grow my hair out again...
