Title: Wahl Super Taper No Guard Length?
Post by: blue1456 on December 06, 2018, 04:35:39 AM
Hi all,

New to this forum. I've been doing a buzz cut with a wahl 0.5 guard (1.5mm) for a year or so and was thinking about trying a cut with no guard. The taper lever has always been in the closed position.

Does anyone know what length the open and closed cuts would be with no guard? 1.0mm????

Thanks.

I am not sure if they are different in the US.  But I have assumed mine has an adjustment of 0 to 0.5 guard.  So 0 to 1 mm is likely very close.  But I just say you should give it a try.  The difference is so small, if it is shorter than you want it is only a day or so of growth difference.

Sly beard is right . What ever the difference it won’t make any noticeable difference. Try it out at the lowest setting and see how you like it .

Thanks for the replies. I spent a few hours watching vids on youtube. Here at 11.45:

(With no guard)

Closed = 0.5mm = 000 guard
Open = 2.4mm = 1 guard
1/2 way open = 1.2mm = 0A guard.

I cut it half open and it looks good. No problems with cuts etc. I think it came out around 1.0mm ish. Those wahl clippers are amazing. I've heard stories of them lasting 50+ years for some people...

Yes the Wahl and the Oster clippers last for ever , with moderate care.
