five or six days growth.  hate this 'in-between' stage. ... Almost shaved it clean yesterday; but think I'll keep it going a bit longer before I decide

I hear ya on the in-between stage.  I'm not a big fan of that either.

Keep it going bro.  I'm in the stages of growing mine out also.

Lance, what setting did you have your trimmer on in that profile pic of yours?  I like that length and am also wondering what type of trimmer you use?
