Razor Bumps
« on: December 19, 2006, 08:21:52 PM »
I get razor bumps very easy so I use an Oster or Wahl trimer but both leave fuzz. I use Magic Shave Dipilatory occassionally but after too many uses I end up burned. What product or solutions do you guys have for a long time baldy new to slybaldguy??

Jeffbee, welcome to Sly Bald Guys!!

You can try a product called Tend Skin Liquid (http://www.tendskin.com/tendskin.htm).  I'm supposed to get a bottle from Dr. Rosen to review soon, but I haven't received it yet, so I can't comment on how well it works.  Dr. Rosen did assure me that it was safe for the scalp.

Here's what he wrote:

Quote
The product is safe for scalp use as this
was one of the first uses for the product when we started back in 1994. You
"may" get some peeling of the skin which is about the only side-effect you
should have assuming you don't use the product in combination with something
that might cause an interaction.

You can also try ClearHead (http://headblade.com/) by HeadBlade.

Jeffbee, welcome to the group!  I used Nair and other chemical shaver before, (never on my head, the chem above eyes doesn't give me comfort) but I have not found anything that doesn't burn my skin just a bit immediately after and more with each use.  I suggest trying a razor and see how it works for you.

Do not use chemicals on your scalp. I have heard to many horror stories.

Now...I don't have a shaved head...but as far as the face, good ol', time-tested Alum is still holdin' its ground, man.

Will ClearHead work with a chemical shaver?

if you are asking if it will work after you use NAIR (?), i am not sure. you might have to be the guinea pig here. dont know anybody that uses that instead of a razor
