How long does it take you to shave your head?
I'm asking because it usually takes me no less than half an hour.
Is that normal?
So, how long does it take you?
-
I timed it the other day...15 minutes, including the face with a Gillette Fusion Power!
-
I'm right along with Shaft at around 15 minutes using the Remington Rotary shaver.
-
Wow, Tyler, Shaft, you're real roadrunners! 15 minutes, that's quite fast.
Maybe the reason why it takes me so long is lack of years of shaving experience, or perhaps because
I take it slow and try to enjoy it, being a ritual and all. But I wished I could do it faster...
Btw, it takes me 30 minutes just for the head. So 15 minutes incl. the face is quite an accomplishment in my opinion.
Thanks for your replies!
-
Dudes, it literally only takes me about 5 minutes to shave. . . face and scalp! I get ready for work including shave, shower, and dressed in only 1/2 hour. . . that's gives me time for more sleep!
-
yeah, for real...i do my head and face in about 10 minutes total
you guys really need to check out the HeadBlade. it'll cut your shave time in half and give you a much better shave too

I shave an entire circle starting down below the bottom of my neck. Including everything above except my wide gote & eyebrows ( ..lol) I go in 3 pieces (i.e. 1 side of head/including back of neck, other side, then face and front of neck) and it's prolly around 15 minutes or so, never timed. But, I have been doing it for over a decade now, and seems monthly there is less to shave! hehe  ;D I have a nice "putting green" in the back (pretty large these days) and a nice path leading to it. I have heard people say they have a 5 head instead of a forehead, well that means I have a 12 pack! lol doh... AT 20 yrs of age, 16 yrs ago, my fellow Police Officers called me "RoundHead" lol and I wasn't shaving yet... Come to think of it, they might have gave me the initiative to start!! haha
-
It usually takes me about 30 minutes to shave the noggin while I'm in the shower, shave my face and brush my teeth. Doesn't matter how much I try to hurry, it always takes 30 minutes
-
I've been experimenting with a new shaving technique (oh, sounds really fancy) that is both
fast and safe. I've managed to get the time down to 15 minutes (from 30 min) and I haven't cut myself
during shaving (used to cut myself at least once), and there was considerably less irritation...
-
about 25 minutes with either a mach 3 or the fusion
-
Takes me about 5 minutes in the shower...
-
I can shave my head and face in about 5-6 minutes. I shave in the shower. I can shave my head blind just using my non shaving hand to feel for missed places. The headblade makes it much quicker.

Hey Bugman, get yourself a fog free mirror from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, or Linens and Things.... Helps out immensely during the showershave!

Thanks for the tip. I do have one, and use it for the face. For some reason, I barely need it for the head. I take long steady overlapping swipes, and it goes really quick without missing anything. The back is similiar, except I do rub the back of my head to be sure I haven't missed anything.

Since I have started using the Headblade and getting used to it, I've found that I can now shave my head in about 5 minutes, versus the 10 minutes it was taking with my electric. Gotta love the time savings!

:) Mates: it takes me about 20 minutes to shower, then shave my head and face, using the Mach III Turbo. I try not to rush and use the 'touch' technique to ideanify any spots that still have fuzz. I find that I can get four shaves out of every Mach III bladehead. There is a noticeable difference between the fresh blade and the one nearing extinction. The Mach III is less efficient on the face than on the head. After shaving, I use either Neutrogena Post Shave Lotion or Baldguys Moisture Gel to quieten the abrasion. I am convinced that showering is key, as it softens the stubble and prepares it for razoring. The time spent in this routine is less than the time spent in fussing over "fluffing" and hair-spraying in my previous life--and the results are far better. No fear of bending over, or of unsettling hats, or of gusts of wind. Beautiful, livable truth. Professor Melon

40-45 minutes. I am learning not to be a perfectionist about it though and I can shave while listening to my ipod with my cool skin electric shaver(which is way cool). I have thick stubble from my past thick hair, and it takes some work to get most of it pretty smooth(it likes to be sandpaper for some reason). However, considering how fast it wants to grow(within hours honestly) I probably will stop trying to be a perfectionist about it because it isn't worth the time.
-
My daily routine takes about 20 minutes for head & face. If I'm pressed for time, I can do both in about 5-8 minutes. The quick job is pretty "low quality" though.
-
You guys are all fast, although I've never acually timed myself, I'm prety sure it's longer than 30 minutes, As for me after I think I've finnished the task, I rub my head with one hand in all possible directions to find any rough spots, that arent realy visible, and when I fing one, or two, or three I follow my one hand with the razor untill I think I got them all. Then I'll be watching TV or on the computer and rub my head and find another one, so I grab the razor again.
Am I the only crazy one who does this????

Did I mention that, that was just for my head, not my face?? :/O

Hi CanadianHeadblader,
no, you're not the only one who does it. I used to do that in the beginning (when I first started shaving): I would curse whenever I would find a spot I missed an hour or so after shaving, and I'd take the razor and go over it quickly.
But now, well, I just make sure I'll get everything in the first place, and I don't bother going back an hour or so after I've put all my shaving utensils away. But that's just me. That doesn't mean, however, that I feel comfortable with missing spots.
Harry
PS: Welcome to the forum! It looks like our Canadian community is growing. That's a good thing...

I would say I have cut mine down to 20-30 minutes. It could be less but going against the grain takes most of the time.
-
12 to 15 minutes including face B33r
-
not sure how long it takes.
-
Well I actually tomed myself tonight, it took me 1 hour on the nose start to finnish, including my face, by the way as you can see I too have the soda patch. But while watching UFC Fight Night on Spike I rubed my head and sure enough I found a rough spot. Damn time for round 2. g@@4

DOH!!!

Depends on how fussy (or fuzzy) I am. Normally about 20 minutes but sometimes I get real fussy about those sandpaper patches too. One of the weird side effects of this Alopecia Areata is that sometimes when my hair would grow back, it would grow back in a different direction so now I have 3 or 4 different parts in my hair and a lot of different directions of the grain to shave against. Hence the sandpaper patches take time to track down and eradicate. Yesterday though, I was in a rush and shaved head and face in about 5 minutes. Did a fairly good job, got rid of a zit and nearly lost an ear. ;D

I'm about the same. When I first shaved my head on New Year's Day, it took close to 15 minutes. A lot of that time was because I was laughing so hard because the change in my appearance was so dramatic. Since then, the time spent has dropped considerably. I'm probably close to 10 minutes for the dome and the face....and no one's laughing. >:(
-
Face 8-10 mins max (with Sensor 3), head 15 mins (with Fusion).
The Fusion shaved (deliberate pun) a few minutes off my old time plus it takes a LOT less strokes than with the Sensor 3. I did a test today with it, I hadn't shaved for about 6 days cos i was sick but the fusion went through it and gave me a smooth shave with no hassle. Excellent razor! O0

YOU SURE? >:D :*))
-
How long does it take you to shave? Neck up, 15 mins at the most?
Chad

Well, it takes me a half hour too, but when I shave, (I use the gillette fusion, well now I do, I first started using the gillette mach 3, then the HeadBlade, which I gave to my dad. I like the gillette fusion better) I shave with and against the grain. I shave with to start off, to get it as close to my head as possible, then with to get the rest of the hair off. When i shave with the grain to start off with, I find i nik and cut myself easily, because sometimes the hair can be too thick, but when i start with the grain, I get most of it off, and then it is not so tough when I go against it.
-
I shave my head , eyebrows and the rest of my body in 15 minutes or so
-
Less than 10.... I will time it in the morning. This is why I like to be sly....Fast !
-
It takes me about 10 to 15 minutes in the shower.
-
10 minutes for head and face. Sink shaver. I use shaving oil. Don't have to re-lather, just re-wet.
-
Usually around 10 minutes, and that includes shaving my face as well...
-
5 to 10 minutes everything from the neck up. shave in the shower
-
From start to finish with my HeadBlade in the shower... 8 - 10 minutes! :)
-
I would say head and face arround 10 to 15 .. with a mach3
-
It takes me 4 to 5 minutes each morning. I use headblade slick and a Mach III. Nothing to it.
-
Shaving my head in the shower takes about 4-5 minutes.
Shaving my face and cleaning up around the ears at the sink will add another five or so.
All told, my shaving takes around 8-12 minutes
-
5 minutes in the shower to washing head and soaking
5-10 minutes to shave
10 minutes to clean and finish showering
all in all...20-25 minutes. im still relatively new to the game though, so i take my sweet time.
-
From when I walk into the bathroom till when I walk out is about twenty minutes. That's the prep, the shave and the finish. And I am not in a race.
-
To headshave and shower, I allocate half an hour from the time I enter the bathroom to the time I leave it. Rarely takes longer or shorter than that. If I do try to rush it, that is when I nick it.

30 minutes, All 3 S's :D
-
my shower "routine" usually takes 15-20 minutes, and that includes letting my head soak under the hot water for a few minutes to soften the hair, and everything else. so from when i touch the blade to my head til i make the last stroke, 10-13 minutes, i guess.
-
Been timing myself lately b/c of this thread.
About 5 to 8 minutes.
-
Timed myself today. Head and face 12 minutes.
