Hello everybody! Nice to meet you, been a lurker for some time already.
Sooo, here's my story:
I was sick and tired of worrying about my bald spots everytime I walked by a mirror - I'm 36 - so I finally shaved my head. That was 9 days ago! Today I treated myself to a clean barbershop shave! I'm still unsure every now and then. I wonder if that can change over the next 21 days!

So what do you guys think? Sly or nay?
-
I don't know how you look before, but the bald head look really suits you.
Yes is totally normal the first weeks, takes some time to get used to the new You,and that sensation of being watched all the time disappear quickly too 😂

Looks much better sly. you even look less worried in the picture than on the one with hair. Hang on for the 30 days as it does take some time to adjust

Dude, no-brainer. You up'ed your game by a hundred. Don't take this the wrong way, but that thin hair didn't look healthy on ya.
Now, instant trendy cool.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your kind and honest answers.
So far nearly all reactions to shaving my head have been ranging from "Looks good" to "It suits you".
I guess the problem is that I have not yet realized that this is what I'm going to look like for a long time. I hated my unhealthy hair, but I never wanted to be "that bald guy" either. I'm beginning to wonder why though. I'm simply not used to it, I guess.

@dannytiger that bald guy has the world at his feet, why wouldnt you want to be him?
-
Please don't take this the wrong way, but people were likely to be calling you "That Bald Guy" even before you shaved your head, as they were probably saying about me also. You look 100% better, way more cool, athletic, appropriately younger, but more mature, with a shaved head.
-
You are probably right! I used to wear baseball caps 24/7, even at work if my boss allowed it and tried very hard to hide my hair. It was never an option to shave „the weed“ as I liked to call it off until I went to this hipster barbershop and the barber tried to convince me to do it. He called my hair „unsalvageable“. Even though I refused politely and I was actually a bit mad with that guy, that idea stuck with with me and grew. That was a few months ago. Now every day it‘s a bit easier to adjust. And my female coworkers keep asking to touch my head 💪🏻.
I should have done this earlier I guess, but it‘ll take a few weeks more to wake up in the morning without the strange sensation that there is just cold, a bit squishy (lol) skin where soft hair was. Does the skin desensitize a bit or is ist just about growing accustomed to it?

Better be the "Bald Guy" than the "Balding guy",it was an improvement.
-
but I never wanted to be "that bald guy" either.
Perhaps soon, like many of the rest of us, you'll embrace being "that bald guy."
Rock the look bro :)

:) You are so right!
That's very wise!
-
I think you look younger with a shaved head. It's a haircut choice, and it looks good.

He's right. IT TOOK 10 YEARS off your appearance. Plus, you look tougher.
It would be a shame to forfeit those gains.
-
Welcome! It looks great, much better than before Try letting you beard grow longer - sly with a beard is an awesome look, IMO.
-
The shaved head looks good on you. Welcome to the group.
-
Thank you guys! Your kind and honest answers are appreciated, you're helping a lot! I can feel my confidence improving from day to day! I wish you all a great week, Dan (that bald guy O:O)!

That's great. Just writing 'the bald guy' shows your confidence is building. Rock it!

The adjustment period varies from person to person.
Still keeping it shaved???
-
I do! I had a bit of a „relapse“ in early summer - I tried to grow out my hair again but I eventually realized that it is not for me anymore. Bald for life!

You look great, Danny! Nice looking noggin.
No worries, I've attempted to grow my hair back at least a dozen times, but always go back to bald. Eventually I decided I loved sporting a shaved head, and I look forward to my daily shave. Only took about 5 years!
Have people accepted you new look?

They love it! So many great reactions, I feel much more comfortable around people!
Another unusual thing: Sunglasses finally fit. 8)

Wow Danny you look great! and I like how your beard looks with that real sharp line to it along the cheek edge!
-
Looks great - I still think a longer beard would look good on you as well.
-
I think you look great bald - and so much better than before. As someone else said, you look younger, more vibrant. It will take a while, but I'm sure you end up loving being shaved smooth. Much less hassle than hair too!
-
Thanks guys! Very much appreciated! (Obviously) you all look great as well!

I wouldn’t mind it. I‘ve made my peace. I‘ve been losing hair for nearly 20 years and still managed to hold onto more or less most of it until a year ago. It was bound to happen.
-
Another pic. Update: I stopped wearing hats! Sorry for spamming but I feel really confident right now.

Thanks, zetaeffe. I already tried a longer, thicker beard but I feel like it makes my already round face even rounder so I always trim it back after few days. I do plan to lose some weight, so if I ever get in shape again I'm totally gonna try it out once more!

Thanks, Chris! Appreciated! Thanks, everyone - I’ve only seen cool, respectful and helpful people in this forum so far.

Dude you're crushing it! Major improvement.
Also, how good does it feel to be "that bald guy" now?

this guy, danny, gets the 2019 AWARD OF THE YEAR for the biggest upgrade from beginning his head shaving journey. Pay attention other dudes still on the fence.
-
Update! Had no time to shave for a few days because of work. The bridge of hair that keeps my bald areas apart is definitely starting to "collapse" - I noticed it's gotten at least half an inch thinner and more see-through in general. Still not a Norwood 6 I guess (?), but gettin' there! Today is my day off, time for a shave. O:O

Stay fit and enjoy the New You.

if your follicles were like mine, that island in front will go next. then, the bridge last.
the best part is we're the point where it doesn't matter because we're already liberated. It's ironic because as a young guy, I did everything possible to hide it. now, it means nothing.
a couple times a year (laziness) I won't shave for 3-5 days straight. the results are always same—it's still gone. LOL.
