Title: 20, seborrheic dermatitis and debating whether to stay shaved.
Post by: matthias on December 08, 2014, 08:35:45 PM
Hi all,
I am 20 years old and have gone between a long buzz cut and fully shaved. I have sebhorreic dermatitis caused by a medication (the medicine is known for causing hair loss and hair changes in color/texture), It's been a pain because while I have a ton of hair still, the medicine caused the hair on top to grow in blonde, but the sides are still darker. So I have been shaving just for the convenience of it.

What do you'll think of this look? I don't know whether to keep it or not. My hairline is intact, I just have quite mild diffuse thinning/plus hair getting lighter. Opinions would be welcome.

Welcome to the board, Matthias.

I think you look fine shaved. In my opinion, it easily is a keeper look for you.

It looks great. We've had a lot of people post here that shaving helped their seborrheic dermatitis tremendously - relieving it completely in many cases. For reasons of comfort alone, you should keep it shaved.

You've got a nice head shape.  I think you look quite good bald.  So I vote for staying smooth.

Welcome, Matthias!

As another (former) sebhorreic dermatitis sufferer myself, I found that is stayed clear as long as I kept it shaved consistently (every 3 days or so) and to keep my scalp from drying out. A dermatologist can recommend a cream or shampoo to keep the SD away. Good luck!

You look good. I was bbc, but taking a break for the winter. After 3 or 4 days of not shaving, the sd is back with a vengeance. That will be the reason I shave my head again sooner than planned. It's simply amazing how it completely clears up when I shave daily. Oh how I miss being bald!! Rocking the flattop for now.

Looks good to me.  And with the beard, you can't go wrong, but then I might be a little biased, haha!

Welcome man. Embrace the slickness of the shaved head. I love it and have for many years. It suits you well.
