New guy here. Usually get scissor cut on top and a number 2 on sides/back. Took the plunge and got a number 3 up this time. Obviously have a larger forehead lol..think I should go shorter?

I would try a 1" so the forehead wouldn't be so pronounced. Are you just receding, or is a bald spot developing in the back?

Thanks! I actually don't really have a bald spot in the back. Just receding and thinning up front.

Definitely think going shorter would make the receding hairline less noticeable.

If you've seen my story elsewhere on this site. I started out as you are describing. Over a period of time, I kept going shorter and shorter until I was BBC. It was a nice journey.  Love being bald.

You likely will not be completely satisfied until its razor smooth, but a lot of guys take it down in steps.

My friend, your hairline isn't "receding"; the troops are in full retreat!  Break out the blade and let that beautiful dome come out and bask in the light of day!

Go for it!  Buzz all the way down and then get out the razor...it's time.

I agree. Buzz it down more

When you are ready, take it down to 0.5.  Then take off the guard and see now nice it is with the shortest buzz.

And the final step is to take out the razor and complete your transition to a SBG.  It will work well for you.

Thanks guys! Getting a lot of positive feedback on the #1. But yeah it's only a matter of time before the guard comes off lol.

Do it when you are ready, but I'm telling you your going to look outstanding slick bald.

The shorter buzz looks good.  As others have said, you'll probably suit a shave nicely, too.

Embrace it dude. Bust out the shaving cream and razor. I still remember my first time, cuts and all, but it was so worth it. You're going to look awesome clean shaven.

You will look great after taking the step to slydom.  Go fot it.

Your process sounds similar to what I went through five years ago.  Give this a go (looks good).  Then take the guard off and see what it looks/feels like.  You'll be ready for the razor.

Take your time. Enjoy the process. Looks good on you.

What do YOU think of the #0?
Title: Re: Should I go shorter?
Post by: Sir Harry on June 13, 2016, 05:32:52 PM
Suits your headshape and hairline well....Do you like it? Also, everyone on their own terms. If you think this is best for you long term, I think it would work. BTW that last pic give more of a 0.5 appearance, but if you did that yourself, you did a nice job!

I would go shorter. It will always grow back if you don't like it.

Thanks, Good eye! It actually was a #1/2. I'm not sure If Wahl even has a #0. I guess their #0 is no guard.

But yeah I'm digging it. It's awesome having no hair in the summer.

you will be glad, iff you did it with a razor.

Just an update on my journey. I now use no guard and leave a little stubble.
Attempting to rock a beard too lol.

your most recent pic is your best.

Best so far, that is...

assuming you still have a interest in jumping to a skin tight shave!

Looks much better the shorter you go man, I really think skin tight would look great on you. Enjoy tinkering and seeing what you prefer best!

Just looking at each progressing pic, better each time you go shorter.

Your facial expression seems to indicate that you like it too.

I see a razor in your future (just for the top.  The beard works...)

I concur...skin tight!!

The stubbly head and stubbly beard are a perfect match...But in the coming months, if (when) the beard gets thicker, I think you should go ahead and bic it, just to see how you look. Thanks for the updates!

Very nice. You'll like it when you break out the razor.  It will look almost the same, but feel much fresher.  30 day rule.

I say just take it all off man. I have always liked a cleaner look so when I started balding i figured going sly was the cleanest look I could go for. it looks like you could grow a mean beard so why not shave the dome and get a short beard going?

Looking great!  I think you should break out the razor and go for it!!!!  You will love it man!!!!  I too think you could grow a great beard from the looks of your picture!

Also agree it is time to shave with a razor, you are almost there and it is going to look even better.
