hello fellow chrome domes: 1st of all...sorry if this topic has been discussed but "who encouraged U 2 shave your dome?" i'll start: the people that "encouraged" me 2 "do the deed" was my beautiful wifey, my friend "slickdome68" (he's a member here but not an active member), & a co-worker at work.
i was a "chrome dome" b4 signing up on the SBG forum. so... how 'bout U? who were the people in your life that encouraged U to "do the deed"? was it the SBG forum? was it your loved one? what's your story?

I have a friend who encouraged me to buzz my head, this is back when my hairline just began receding. Although he never said it was because of that, it was because I always wore a hat and when I would take it off, I'd have major hat hair, so he was like, "just buzz it and don't worry about it. Plus, it'll look cleaner and give you a younger look when you do go without a hat." So I did it, then I'd grow it out, and buzz it again a few months later. This happened for a while up until the point where it just got to be too much of a hassle dealing with styling my hair, so I began buzzing it consistently.
Then I just kept taking it shorter and shorter, and on St. Patty's Day this past year, I took out a razor and shaved it to the skin. Now I shave it every other day.

Although I was considering it before finding this great forum, the encouragment of the SBG's were the reason I took the plunge.

Instead many relatives/friends tried to make me regrow it...
but after 12 years am still bald and loving it! ;D

No one, but I had seen a few cool looking Sly guys around and liked the look. 8)

I would agree most of the credit to shave my head came from mother nature, but it was the guys here that really kicked up my sly pride to another level...
BTW, Thanks guys... I feel I have you guys with me everywhere I go with my bald dome. Kinda like the Verizon network...

I was influenced by Telly and Yul. I wanted to be a skinhead since the first time I saw them on TV. It was just a matter of time before the crewcuts and flat tops went....

I always thought the lead elf on "Ruldolph the Red Nose Reindeer had a cool look...
bald head and bottom goat, very beatnik...as a kid I thought that was cool.... really!
Little did I know I would eventually have the guts to follow his fashion taste! ;)
I would also say any dude in music or sports that had the guts to have a slick bald head back in the 80's...
when it was no where close to being accepted or a "hair style" of any kind!
In the late 80's a buzzcut was a big deal, so when you say a shiny bald head, especially on a dude with a full head of hair....d@mn that was very cool!

For me it wasn't really anyone encouraging me, it was more just to mess with people at work. Everyone kept harassing me about how thin I was getting so I just showed up one day with nothing. What convinced me to stick with it was all you guys on here though.

Finnish army in January. After army I was going to grow my hair back, but then i saw Jumissa.fi and he was sly and he show me this forum. I thought "Oh, What the funk!"

Nobody encouraged me. I decided one day that I wanted to see what I looked like with no hair and so shaved it off. The original thought that I would probably let it grow back, but it didn't work out that way... O:O

no-one really.. except that it was easier when my girlfriend also accepted it and said "go for it if u want.." :@` O0 ;D

Couple girls and a bud of mine back in 1994 planted the idea when we were partying one night and for some reason decided to see what we would look like bald. Some reason there was a box of latex gloves in the house and we pulled them over our hair and pulled the fingers back to simulate the sly look. And yes, we were drinking alot that night. Once I did it they all say "wow, you'd look awesome shaved!"
Sadly it wasn't unitl 2007 that Mother Nature pushed hard enough and the fellows at SBG gave me the guts to do the deed. Thank guys, owe you big time.

No one encouraged me, I simply had used the electric head shaver to trim, but had the guide to low. I decided to gel and shave to see what it looked like.
I think some of you remember the pic of me wearing my wifes sun hat. She made the comment that if I let her take a pic and me post it on the net, that she would let me keep it. :*))

She shaved it the first few times it was ever done. She did a good job too.
(I have the pictures to prove it)
She'll still trim it up when she says I go to fast and don't get it smooth enough.
Who am I to argue with her logic?

My girlfriend encouraged me to shave my head. She said I had always had a military style haircut and that shaving my head wouldn't really make much difference since most of the hair was already shaved off except for a small horseshoe on top.

no one really, as I said earlier in the post, but my barber at the time was SLY, and I always admired the look. I always had it buzzed down to a number 1, and then I asked for a number '0', and he suggested I try a shave, which i did. Never looked back since. 8)

My barber was the first one to really encourage me to go bbc...... It was a big decision as I had a full head of hair at the time but had been getting my hair cut short quite a bit.
The first time I was clippered down to zero & then shaved bald was in summer 2003. Have been getting my hair cut really short &/or shaved ever since.
Now at the stage that I want to remain bbc for good.

My hair loss encouraged me, and a Bottle of Beer too (maybe not the Greatest Idea at the time).
I did it last Sunday. Went out to watch Barcelona play Football and see Guardiola (Barcelona Soccer Coach) with a fresh sly shaved dome and thought "Cool" similar hair colour, features, and hairloss and how GREAT he looks with his domeshaved.
So in a small way, seeing Pep Guardiola - encouraged me that I done the right thing and going to a Party last night seeing 2 friensd that I hadn´t seen in ages. One had a sly dome, the other with a 1 all over - again helped me.

Shaved for a part I was playing. Liked it. Kept it. Wife likes it, too.

I lost a bet at the firehouse and had to shave my head as a result. The next day after the bet, when I realized I wanted to keep "my new look" i had the satisfaction of letting them know that in theory I may have lost the bet, but in REALITY, it was me who came out on top!!

My wife encouraged me. She likes my bald head over MPB. It makes my wife happy and my wife means more to me than hair. She likes it so I am just going to keep it that way. I enjoy shaving it everyday as well. I like taking a razor to my head and just shaving it.

One of my best friends threw the idea out there one day when I mentioned how my hair clippers didn't seem to cut evenly. I think he was just joking, but the idea stuck with me. :)

Wel my MPB was the one who pushed me and now that I want to keep being bald.

It was a buddy of mine that got me to buzz my hair real short to the point that my head looked almost bald. I just took it to the next level with a headblade and a few beers.

i was curious about what i would look like if i was bald.
so i did it.
i was skeptical at first.
but it grew onto me so i'm somewhat obsessed with being bald.
tho i'm having problems breaking out. i still rather not have ANY hair on my head :)
