I’ve started shaving my head 15 yrs ago, and I’ve tried every type of facial hair with the exception of a longer beard. I’ve liked all styles. I think i look best with a short beard (about #1 blade length) and it’s the easiest to take care of. I’ve gone back to sporting a goatee for now. My intent was to do a braid but i had to trim the length as it wasn’t growing in very even. I really like a bald head with a chevron mustache, but I gotta muster up the courage to do it and stay with it though.
I created the poll to see what you guys like as your favorite look.

I really can't grow a beard anymore and when I try, it just looks sparse so I keep it clean shaven.
-
No surprise my favorite is a long full beard. But, IMO, a shaved head looks best with at least "some" facial hair. I am well aware of the facial hair challenges many guys have, and a full beard is not possible for all. But even if a guy cannot grow any facial hair, I still think a shaved head looks better than a thinning/balding head. I myself was not capable of growing a full beard until sometime in my 40's. Prior to that, my cheeks were very weak and patchy. Fortunately, my facial hair thickened up enough for a full beard about the same time my head hair started thinning.
BTW, I also prefer facial hair for guys that still have a full head of hair.

I had a goatee for many years, but recently grew the sides in. The sides are trimmed to a slight point near the ears, and sideburns trimmed down to the ear lobe. I definitely like this look.

I can’t really grow a beard, so I clean shave my face in addition to my head. I could try a goatee I guess, but even that isn’t great

I shaved my face when the Covid thing started for the first time in about 40 years. I was shocked! Wasn't a good look for me.
-
I went clean shave too at the beginning of the pandemic when wearing a mask with a beard was annoying. I kinda liked it and it lasted longer than I thought it would —- about 6 months. Then I did a mustache which fits under a mask nicely then went to a goatee.
-
only done a full beard since I shaved my head so scared to shave beard off now.

@Dragon And what a gorgeous beard it is! Nicely shaped in that side shot!

thanks @Razorhead. That was a while ago, its a bit longer now and wider. I could blame covid.......

I've seen some guys with just a goatee and no mustache and it looked good. I would like to try that look, but will probably wait until next winter. I should have started by shaving my mustache when I clean shaved my face last winter.

a goatee and no mustache
Ah..... that was my first shaved head look. A coworker of mine also had a shaved head and the same facial hair. Another guy at work asked if we went to the same stylist! We had a lot of baldies on the team. I remember we had a meeting and there were 4 of us guys with shaved heads ..... the fifth guy ( and only guy with hair) took a little razzing from us. He never shaved.

Beards and goatees look fine while short but the one thing I've noticed with solo mustaches is that you really need to go big or go home. I think this is why its so common for guys with a regular looking mustache to grow a soul patch or sideburns or let the beard grow out for a few days because they just lack something. Big impressive mustaches, on the other hand, can look really impressive and impressive to the point that the effect is lost if it is part of a beard.

@Rusty Shackleford You make a lot of good points about going big with mustaches. I didn’t realize how impactful a fuller look is until i decided to let my goatee just grow for months without trimming. I think that’s key. Try to go 2 to 3 months with just growing the facial hair and skip the trimming until then. At some point, I’ll probably shave off the chin hair and do a solo stache.

Same here. Last time I saw my bare face was 13 years ago. I have no desire to take a peak and see how much it has aged since then.

Give it a shot and I think you'll like it. You should post what you've got in the beard pic thread.
I'm on my 3rd attempt to grow a big mustache. I think part of my problem is that the distance between my upper lip and nose isn't very big and I have a hard time parting the hair even with wax. I also eat too much food that involves shoving something big into my mouth like a burrito. I'm also learning more how other guys do it, and I've noticed that guys with big staches let it droop under the upper lip instead of using wax to force the hairs to grow nearly horizontally, but we'll see how it goes.

I started clean shaving both my head and face, feeling much younger and vibrant. My gf also loves it! :D

@BaldBlindAt20 Congratulations! Well done. How long have you been shaving for? I like a clean shaven face with a bald head. It’s a crisp look. Congratulations again. I hope you are enjoying slydom. Do you feel relieved now that you shaved?
-
I live keeping my face shaved just like my head.
-
@chuck63 and it all looks good on you
-
I think the clean shaved head and face looks great. I would do it if I could pull it off. I shaved it all during the pandemic, and it wasn't good!
-
I am afraid I now have too many chins to shave my face :-[
Besides, I was in my mid 40's before my cheeks had enough growth for a full beard, so I am making up for lost time now.

It's hard to pick just one 😅

Another new username! I think you have tried them all, except maybe braided. And Like I have said before, you are fortunate that they all look good on you. And I will add that you can grow facial hair quickly, so you change it often.

I have been shaving my head for a month, I started to do so right before my 21st bday :DD and have been shaving my face along for around a week or two. I like slydom very much and I am happy I have managed to finally do it lmao

@BaldBlindAt20 , your only a month into shaving, but be aware, it can become addictive! Alot of the guys here, including me, have found that after 3 to6 month, it's hard to stop. I'm at the point where I hate the stubble, so I shave everyday. I like the look of a totally bald head , but even more the feel of a freshly shaved head is awesome.
-
@BaldBlindAt20 nice! It must be huge relief to accomplish what you set out for.

Shaving has become very addictive for me, especially because of that very clean look I get. I am not good at shaving my head tho, because I have difficulties with shaving all of it, especially against the grain above my ear (horseshoe area), so sometimes I look older a lot lmao

Yeah I am proud of myself and I love that new look of mine. Also everyone seems to be happy for how I handled losing my hair in a ripe age of 20, now with being 21 I went away with hair for good. It's actually funny that hairloss stops being a problem when you shave it

Shaving our heads gets better with time, but we all have some areas that seem impossible to get smooth. Just be careful to not over-do it and get razor burn.

Once I forgot my shaving cream (srs) and my head was full in blood, never gonna happen again

I shave my head in the shower once a week (after clipping close) if I remember, I use soap. Normally just with water. I guess I don't have a very sensitive scalp. But yet shaving my face (way way way back when) was horrible!

I can't grow a beard anymore but the wiskers still grow and I need to shave my face. What a pain! On my face, I can't get a clean shave. I guess my face is messed up because the wiskers grow in the wrong direction on my neck so I have to shave sideways. You'd think that after someones been shaving for so many years, he'd have it figured out. I just decided to let it grow and forget shaving. My head is easy to shave but my face is a horror show and my wife doesn't like it when I slack off. Well, if she don't like it then she can shave it.
