Mox, that mock-up that Penmouse did is awesome.  You will look great!  Go for it and resist the temptation to ask your friends for their opinion, before shaving your head.

Before you shave your head, everyone will give you their most negative opinion.  It is natural.  Especially if you are asking people with lots of hair.  However, once you shave it, people will base their opinion on actual results, not assumptions.  Then, if their opinion is still negative, F 'em.

If you want honesty and support after you shave, send us your pic and we'll tell you the truth.

Hey Mox!

Shave it off.  You're itching to do so and you got to satisfy that itch.

I think you'll love it.

Hey Mox welcome. Don't worry about what others think just do what makes you feel better about yourself. Most people you ask about it while you have hair will tell you that it is a bad idea. This is because it is a change and people are afraid of change. They are scared of what your head will look like because they can't see it. I have yet to see anyone who shaved their head discover that there head was misshappened or disformed. Try buzzing it down to a No.1 cut or with no guard at all and keep it that way for a few weeks. Some of your friends opions will change as they can see more of your head without hair. Then take the money you saved from the two weeks of no Propecia and buy a good razor, blade and lotion and shave it off. You will still have some money left over as Propecia is expensive so use that to go out and watch how the women come over to talk to the new Bald Guy.

I feel like this is the only good, permanent solution.

You already have the answer. And thats the hard part. Like sean said....

I took the plunge today and did it. I had a female friend of mine help me out.

So far I don't think it looks so bad. I don't own a camera otherwise I would post a pic on here immediately. Now I just have to take it out on the town, and show all my friends/acquiantences. Not to mention my family that hasnt seen it yet.

Wish me luck  8)

Welcome, Mox!

You will find this site/forum very helpful. This is a bunch of really great guys that will offer you whatever advice they can.

It is important to follow the 30-day rule. It may look strange to you for a few days, but you'll get used to it pretty quickly.

Congrats on joining the SLY fraternity!

Hey Mox

Good luck on introducing your new look.  I've only been sly for one week - great support around here

Concern about others views is a huge thing - still dealing with it myself - if you like it great, and really; if your hair, or lack thereof, is a big issue for someone doesn't that reallly say more about them - lifes short and around here so is is our supply of hair -

Mox, stick with it, decide if YOU like the look.  I was never one for the cap, so as my hair thinned and receded, it was just seen by all.

Some people will love how you look sly right off the bat with a smooth dome, some will make comments, and even family will make their comments, decide what you like.  Since you were a cap guy, think of it this way: No more Hat Head.

2nd day sly... so far its not so bad.

The girl that helped me shave said I could probably pull it off, as did a girl-Im-not-dating-but-fooling-around-with. My parents have made comments, and my dad especially doesn't seem to like it (but he has been fine having a thin patch of hair up top for decades). But like its been said, Im going to decide if I like the look on me.

I noticed this morning the stubble that grew overnight, and realized a daily shave has to be necessary to keep the dome smooth. This makes the look almost deceptively hard to maintain, but Im sure I could get myself into a routine.

Tonight Im going out for my birthday (22 years old) with a large group. I'll have people take pictures and send them to me so I can post them soon. And it'll be the first time I go out with a sly dome. Should be interesting!

Welcome to the club! I shaved mine last week and found that HeadSlick works wonders by producing the closest shave yet. I will try other methods though as it gets low, but love the menthol feel afterwards the HeadSlick gives.

Hey Mox,
Just read this thread. I've been suffering from MPB since my late teens and shaved my head 2.5 years ago....wish I would have done it sooner.
It's a truly liberating feeling to just give mother nature the bird! Stick with it, the 30 day rule is big.
Yeah, the stubble feeling sucks, which is why keeping the dome as smooth as possible is almost a necessity. Like a lot of others on SBG, I'm a headblade user.....LEARN IT, LOVE IT, LIVE IT. I still use a Schick Extreme3 to touch up around the ears, but for the majority of my head, the HeadBlade Classic (or Sport) Razor cannot be beat.

Also, I'm dying to know how the night out went!! Post pics and give us the 411!

Cheers!
Schro

Id just shave it off, i mean bic it, i entered the hat phase in 2004, once that happened, i was bic'd in a couple months, i happen to be a baseball fan, iyou have nothing to lose, just bic it and keep it bic'd for good.
