Quick update:
I took my head down to the 1 setting this morning.
I had thought I might just do that last night and go for shave this morning.
But yesterday afternoon I had such a bad day and a PIA day that I knew even if I liked the final shave down my mood was too soured to enjoy it. And worse if I didn't like it I would just be too ticked off...
So I stayed with my original plan and just now went down to the 1 setting. I guess the next setting is to just remove the comb attachment and go for a "zero". Although I worry (just a little) that they might be too irritating to my super sensitive skin.
Over thinking this stuff!
Anyway I have my supplies, sunscreen, some modest shaving materials, plus through the link here I did order up a Head Blade package of supplies (with 20% discount). I should be well set for the next few months at least.
I made most of my choices by summarizing a consensus of opinions here plus a little personal due diligence. ie I bought Banana Boat Sport 50 sunscreen along with Head Blade, aloe gel etc...
Stay tuned... BTW I am camera phobic, have been since 6th grade or so... so pictures are unlikely to come at anytime soon! Stupid I know, just for whatever reason I am.
If anyone cares...
The pic is my dog Braveheart and regardless of the name SHE is a bitch. Best companion I have ever had, she is only a few years old in the pic, she is now 10 and the brindle color on her face is turning gray.
Yours in good health!
Eric

Not even 12 hours later...
I took the clippers to my head with no depth adjustment or comb attachment.
Being a dirty blond sort of hair color I look at this point, for all intents and purposes like I am fully shaved.
I would estimate that this might be what 36-48 hours post head shave will look and feel like.
DUDE! It is weird.
Weird good or weird bad I do not know.
But WEIRD IS definite. :*))
About the issue of side burn/ear point for hair and no hair I am trying just about mid ear.
My full beard is not full in the sense of thick and bushy, just full in not trimmed or sculpted. Light brown, reddish blond type facial hair with some gray mixed in, about as soft as facial hair can be.
I do keep in modestly short in length and do occasionally shave my cheeks and I must shave my neck at the sight line.
I am thinking with a shaved head I will need to become more regular with the beard trimming and keep it more consistently trimmed up.
I am NOT a high maintenance type guy. I do not want to devote long amounts of time to this... Also being sensitive skin type and generally very dry as well, I usually only shower on an every other day basis. I am hopeful I will not want or choose to head shave or any shave more often than that as well.
We shall see...
It does appear that tomorrow morning might be the final shave down...
Or could it be tonight?

Thanks as always, a Sly Guy in training,
Eric
