Hey dude thats awesome, they say the first 5 days are the most important!
A friend of mine quit, by keeping a pack of cigs on his person at all time, so his brain was thinking I can have a smoke whenever I want, but I am not going to. Alot of people throw away the packet, have nothing available and get panicy and begin thinking I really need a smoke, which of course drives you insane and causes you to start again!
I have tried and tried to quit smoking, the only way to actually do it is to want to give up, if you are doing it because you feel you have to its impossible, but if you want to give up then you have alot more chance of succeeding!
Best of luck Michigan_mayhem, Timm dude if you decide you want to quit give me a PM I have alot of advice on giving up smoking (Mom is a doctor so tells me about it every day

)
I started smoking when I was 15. I never gave quitting a real chance; there were always so many excuses to NOT quit. I loved smoking. Why would I want to give up something I loved, right?
Then in October I just decided that was it. I'd started WANTING to quit and one day I just decided not to go buy more when I ran out. I never even got the shakes. I can't explain it...something in my brain just said, "ENOUGH" and that was it.
If you want to quit you can do it. Have faith in yourself and try to avoid situations where you are used to having a smoke in your hand. GOOD LUCK!
So?
Ya still good?
You would be about a week away from one month.
Let us know.
I quit smoking a little over a year ago. ITS FRIKKEN HARD. Luckily I had a pretty nasty bronchial infeciton going on. Hint: if you want to quit smoking, try starting after a really severe chest cold. It w orked for me. I gained quite a bit of weight, but the fact that I could BREATH I started running which helped me.
Quit! Quit! Quit! You do not need that stuff. Tim! Quit now! If you are the reason why I start back up in late July going to the sly bald con, I will ring your neck!!
Lol JK Tim
Acutally I started smoking again from where I was . I quit again may 21st and am at 2 weeks and something right now. Not sure what I am doing through , because I am having a rough time with my life right now and about to go back maybe . Trying to hold on .
Keep it up 2 weeks is already great.

Personal experience : Stay away from alcohol and smoking friends until you managed 7 weeks or so.
But even that is no ticket to the non smoking world. I quit on 18. January 2009 and still have the occassional fallback into this expensive habit when beer and smoking friends come together.
It's a struggle but keep positive and keep telling yourself you can do it.
If you think you CAN or you think you CAN'T you're right.
All I wanted to say is congratulations, for every day you go without having a cig. I started early, at 14 and then 5 or 6 years later I quit. Not for a great reason though. I got sick of spending all the money on the darned things!
And Timm, I know YOU can do it! You'll feel so much better!
