This sort of question is probably already been posted on here in the past , but too lazy to go back and look through them all lol . I just shaved my head , by myself and was sort of tough. I did the feel to where the stubble was ect , nicked myself a couple of times. the back was really tough to do.
Any advice on shaving the back of the head and shaving your head yourself in general ? still getting use to shaving my head.

First off, let me start by saing Welcome to the SBG Family, sorry if I missed your intro.
Seccond, What razor do you use to shave your head? I am a dedicated HeadBlader because as I just stated in a previous thread, because of the HeadBlades desighn (Again Thank You Todd) it offers superrior controll and the more controll you have of your razor the less nicks and cuts you'll have. But what ever you use I find it helpfull if I look down when doing tha back of my head, it helps to pull the skin a little tighter. I also lead with my free hand for two reasons, 1) to feel for the stubble 2) to also further pull the skin tight.
I hope that helps.

Hey ! thanks for the reponces back. I am am using disposable razors , the cheap ones unfortunally at the moment , and for shaving cream I am using Edge advance gel senative skin. I been thinking about purchasing a Headblade , though I see they have three styles and not sure which on is the best or what the diffrence is. They do not tell ya much about the product on the site .

no cheap razors....try a gillette mach 3 or gillette fusion, if your going to go with disposable, try the schick extreme 3.
as far as the headblade, i actually got mine in the mail yesterday but it was difficult to even start shaving with it without using pressure(pressure with headblade results in cuts). but their products are really good. their headslick mentholated shaving cream works pretty good.

Yea definitely try to get your hands on Gillette Fusion, Mach 3, Schick Quattro, Head Blade etc. Quality razors. I've been sly for about 6-7 months now, and still have a little trouble shaving the back of my head. It's the only place where I'll nick myself every now and then. Anyway what I do is starting from the front of my head, take short somewhat choppy strokes, then a long one all the way to the back. Do this around your whole head until the lather has pretty much disappeared. I then reapply the lather on the back of my head, and shave upward starting from the back of my neck, and in every single direction I can think of, so I can get those annoying little patches that are difficult to cut. Hope this helps

And remember, a quality prep of the head is what leads to a great shave!

If you intend to go against the grain to get a totally smooth shave in all directions, I would recommend shaving front to back first, and then go back to front. I am a huge fan of the Headblade, but you'll never know if it works for you if you don't try it. It offers me the cheapest, best shave I can get. If, after a long trial period, it doesn't work for you, then you're out the price of one cheap haircut. Headslick shaving cream is 'da bomb.

On the back of the head, I make strokes from the neck up, and I feel with my other hand where the edge of the stubble is. It's sorta like mowing the lawn.

I find that if you tilt your head forward, it will tighten up the skin enough to get a smooth against-the-grain shave and be less prone to cutting yourself. Anyway that's what I do. I don't use a mirror, just feel for the smoothness.

Yea I actually do the same thing, it helps me get right in the center of my head.
