I'm newly SLY!

I've been thinning a lot over the past few years - I'm 28 now. I was fed up with my nearly non-existent crown and receding, uneven hairline and it all came to a head (hehe) when I tried to get a hairpiece last week. I was really excited about it, and thought it looked pretty good. However, it was such a pain to manage, even for the one week I wore. I was constantly tweaking it, edges were rising up, and I was always paranoid about others noticing. I felt like it was consuming my life - I can't imagine how those stuck under one for years feel!
Plus, the hairpiece felt a lot different than my own hair, to both the touch and feel. Even though they looked like a passable match, they behaved way differently. When the piece hair got wet, or I slept in it, it matted and looked and felt awful. Anyone who says you can run your hands through the hair in a piece when wet is telling you a lie - unless it is perfectly brushed out. There was a constant hovering feeling of the hair at all times, and it's quite odd to have hair on your head with no feeling.
Thankfully, I went the DIY route, so there were no evil contracts holding me back from trying to go SLY! As most who wear/wore a piece know, they shave your head in the horseshoe pattern to place the system. Therefore, my only way out was to go sly - unless I wanted to look REALLY ridiculous as a 28 year old with a full, barren NW7.
Here is a shot of the new me!

Way to go man. You don't want the pain of a piece. You pull off the look without a doubt. I just went sly too and it's taken the dread of balding away. Good stuff isn't it? Congrats man.

Oh yeah, I love it! I can't wait to go to work tomorrow and preach against the tyranny of the "hair system". I'm sure people noticed last week, and will be a little shocked, but for the better.

Welcome to the board. Glad you decided to not deal with the trouble of the piece. I got shocks when I went to work and people saw the new hair cut

One lady actually screamed, with what I assume was surprise lol. Hope you get some great and memorable reactions!!!

Hey, Congrats, and welcome! You made the right choice by banishing the piece. That mop would've dominated your every waking moment and drug you down. Terrific look!
