i figured ide man up and put up an avatar showin off my big/long forehead and receding hairline. i usually put up avatars from side views and far away views (if you havent noticed) since i was usually self conscious about it but w/e. since im dealin with the issue better i figured ide post a better pic.

(ha! and sry im not smiling. everyone complains when i dont smile in my pics. thats not a "pissed" look tho thats just my normal "serious" look lol. i cant help it  ;D)

Hey Ghost -- I like your new avie.  Personally, I think you're putting too much worry into your perception of what you see as your "big/long forehead" and receding hairline.  The configuration of your hairloss pattern is classic mpb, and I bet it is what a lot of us on this forum had before we lost more.  My pattern certainly mirrored yours...a little while back.  Now there's just not much up there on my centerline, and what is there is mostly grey.  Don't sweat it.

The disadvantage of viewing one's own reflection in the mirror is that we are limited to the range of our vision.  We're looking at stop-frame snapshots, and our eye is drawn right to whatever our perceived "trouble area" is.  So every time you look in the mirror, you look right up at what you see as a long forehead.  You're not taking in the whole effect, like everyone else who sees you from different angles and in motion.  I'm telling you, you have a great head shape, nice features, and your forehead is not out of the norm.  Relax!

I like the new avatar.  You look different than in your prior side pics.  Different in a good way.  Not trying to be gay, but you're better looking than the side pics show.

Ghost, we've seen you from all directions now and no way do I see anything for you to be in anguish about.  Of course, it's your anguish and so it's too easy to just tell you to get over it.

But you have every reason to be totally confident about your appearance.

So if you can, stop B@n% and just learn to love being  8).

i appreciate it. a buddy of mine actually came over today without lettin me know and i was in the bathroom shaving my head and he jumps outta nowhere and i damn near sliced my head off with the razor lol. i was PISSED. i was like "you NEVER f*** around like that when a mans shaving his dome" >:( lol.

but anyways.....he doesnt understand why im so self conscious about my hairline and balding. he doesnt think its a big deal. i told him once he started losing some hed understand more. then he gave me the whole "all you gotta have is confidence man" speech. i told him i already heard it many times lol.

Looks good.  I know you are self conscious about the shadow and the hairline bit--but I think it shows that you have dealt with the issue in a mature and safe manner--no drugs, rugs or plugs.  Just remember, that hairline shadow is going to go away, probably within 5 years--and you won't have had to deal with looking older than your years during that time O:O O0.

This weekend the parades got under way in a serious fashion here and one strange thing I saw was some of the sorriest looking comb overs and receding hairlines you can imagine.  One poor guy had TWO hairlines, one in front, near the normal position, but then that patch of hair didn't meet up with the back of his head and he had a second one over his ears.  Although he had it short, the full monty would have made it so much better.  Lots of Sly Guys too in the crowd, but there were the "clowns" in their Bozo fringes too :/O.  Why, I keep asking, why?

Ghost, for what it's worth, I dig my "M" hairline. In the right lighting it makes me feel sinister and manly. Think of how well it worked for Bruce Willis for so many years.

It's a cool hairline pattern and I hope you learn to work it to your advantage.

Hey Ghost: your new avatar is cool, bro: sort of 'open' - miles better than the sideways on pic.  Don't worry about the shadow: mine's just the same in different lighting. O0
