I was once biking home from somewhere and heading through a small town I saw 2 small children wandering in the road.  This is a very busy road in a built up area.  Both children were around 2 years old.  There was a dog wandering loose as well.  I just stopped my bike in the middle of the road, got off and approached the kids.  They seemed a little wary of the big stranger dressed like a space man but took my hands and walked to the side of the road.  The dog followed but stayed just out of arms reach.  A car coming the other way stopped and a woman came over to help out.
Another passer by recognized the children and thought she knew where they lived (only about 200m away) so went to inquire.
Fortunately the kids were safely reunited with their parents who thought they were playing safely in the back yard.  They'd managed to open 2 gates to get out.
I was shocked that there were cars and trucks driving past ignoring these 2 tots and some people seemed p!ssed with me because I'd blocked the road.

Stumpy....people seem to be caught up in their own worlds these days.   They have no concerns of their own.  Its great that you were the one who happened to be traveling that day.

Warning: Social commentary.
The modern society and the world of business just push the individual to "go. go. go.  Achieve as much as you can, and forget about the community as a whole."  Life is more enjoyable if we look after each other.   Who cares if you pissed off a few jerks who don't have any concern that two year olds are wandering around a busy road?
