I've been talking about shaving my head for around 2 years.  Right after I did it I put a hat on and saw my sister.  She knew something was up and said what's going on?  What are you smiling about?  I took off my hat and her reaction was priceless.  Her jaw hit the floor and she said, you did it!  I can't believe you actually did it!  Then we both busted out laughing from the expression on her face.

Pretty much accepting with a giggle here and there..................my wife isn't thrilled when it's shaved as she says that it makes me look harsher.

I've informed my family of my decision to go sly, and for good reason.  Surprisingly, the most supportive person is my wife.  "It's just hair."

My own family has thrown up their hands and freaked out:  "It might not ever grow back!"  They think that having hair means it's somewhat dignified, or something.

Will post up pics and reactions later this week/early next.

My family was horrible about me shaving my head. They whine about it almost every time I do it(every 3 days-1week) eventually they will get tired though, I can't wait until that day comes. I look terrible with hair, much younger without. Yet no matter what I say they just continue to pester me about it. Haven't really received any support from family members but my friends think I'm better to be around because of my decision.

my mom hated my bald head when i first did it, even though I'd been no 0 for about six months beforee I shaved it, and every few months she will hint about me growing it back; "If you grew your hair..." etc, usually giving me one of the supposed benefits of having hair, but I just laugh it off.  The hints are getting fewer and further between, but I think she still lives in hope!

My dad has never said anything much, and my uncle just jokingly asks when I'm gonna get my hair cut!  Everyone else seems pretty cool with it.

Being SLy is just so much a part of me now that I can't even consider what i would feel like if I grew my hair now. 8)

My family ganged up on me over during our Chirstmas get together.  They were all pretty vocal about not liking my SLYness.  This is after about 6 months of shaving.

So now I'm wondering if I really look that bad with no hair.  It was really a kick in the butt, confidence wise.

Family get togethers bring out the worst in many people, it's a shame that it affected your Christmas.  Stay sly, stay happy, you're the one who wakes up with it and lives with it 24/7, and in the final analysis--the ONLY ONE that matters in this.  Don't retaliate commenting on their sagging butts, Dunlop's disease--it done lop over da belt, greying hair, hairy upper lips, etc.  Stay SLY and on top, you look great!

We had to attend a family gathering the other day... and the first such gathering since my slyness. And I was over the moon at the very first person to comment on my bald head... my 82 year old nana!!!!! She said it looked great and she loved it, as did other family members. But none 'cooler' than my nana!!!  ;)

I know how you feel.  I've been on the receiving end of that kind of treatment in the past.  It is a blow to your confidence - temporarily.  But don't doubt your own instincts -- you look fine, trust me.  I wouldn't say it if I didn't really believe it; on the rare occasions where there's a guy who doesn't look good, I just keep quiet.  But you really have nothing to worry about and I just can't picture how having hair would improve your appearance at all.

Well I almost got hit with a frying pan by my mom when I first tried shaving three years ago.

In retrospect I probably should have told the whole family about it before I went to the house and entered the kitchen asking what there is to eat while her back was turned unaware that I made a few changes to the noggin.  :XX

She didn't like it then but I have to clarify that she almost hit me with a cooking tool because she did not recognize who I was. Looking back it now, it was definately a funny moment.

Way cool Cam.  Just let someone get out of line about your appearance, and watch nana lay into them.  Gotta love old people (seasoned citizens) -- most speak their minds whether you like it or not, and in this case, she's definitely right.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?
