Just had a thought on this one. Does haggis count as an ethnic food?

Nope!  Then again, I went to get a Guinness out of our spare fridge the other night, and it had frozen out there.  It came out of the bottle as slush!  In that case, it counts as food, right?

Explain why not bubbadave? If Indian food is ethnic, and Chinese is ethnic, why not Scottish food?

Because haggis is not really food, let alone ethnic food ha ha !!  :*))

Rubbish Wil. U aint lived till u have had a big plate of haggis tatties and neeps!

Well...  I do have an open mind when it comes to food and have tried just about everything. Haggis just doesn't sound appealing to me. I'd certainly try it but I'd be surprised if I could have a full plate full of it.

    * 1 sheep's lung (illegal in the U.S.; may be omitted if not available)
    * 1 sheep's stomach
    * 1 sheep heart
    * 1 sheep liver
    * 1/2 lb fresh suet (kidney leaf fat is preferred)
    * 3/4 cup oatmeal (the ground type, NOT the Quaker Oats type!)
    * 3 onions, finely chopped
    * 1 teaspoon salt
    * 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
    * 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
    * 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    * 3/4 cup stock

Wash lungs and stomach well, rub with salt and rinse. Remove membranes and excess fat. Soak in cold salted water for several hours. Turn stomach inside out for stuffing.

technically, it does.  I really can't knock it, as I've never actually tried it in all fairness.

Ok POC, I'll chime in ....

I like almost everything, but Haggis seem pretty hard-core.  I guess eating organs, in general, is not very enticing to me.  But, to each his own ...    Others may not like alot of the Greek food I love.

Re: Haggis. Like I said, I'd try it. A full plate full though? hmmmm  I'd have to wait and see on that one. I'd certainly have a cheeseburger on stand by.
