Most people call me - Hey You ! -
I've been called Stevo since I was in 7th grade, my Art teacher started calling me that after SNL did the "Making Copies" sketch. One of the other teachers started calling me that, and after that it spread, and I've been Stevo ever since My niece and nephew even call me Uncle Stevo. Some people call me Stevie, especially at work, but when they do I tend to cringe cause I've never liked being called Stevie. One of my aunts calls me Steven, which I'm cool with, but mostly I'm either Steve or Stevo.
"Duke" for a long time. I have always been a big John Wayne fan and I sorta inherited it.
I have several:
Bill, Billy, BReady (at work), hun (from wife), *ss hole and "where's my child support" (ex-wife)
HAHA just kiding about the last one, I pay her... she's probably got a whole bunch of nick names for me though.
Vash is a shortened version of Vashon. My entire childhood no one could read it correctly, so I told teachers and others to call me "Shon" (pronounced like Sean). It was just easier. Then around 1997 I moved to Arizona and started introducing myself as "Vash" (pronounced like Cash) and I when I started my recording career, that's how I was credited in the album sleeves.
So I can sort of track how long I've known someone by what they call me

Weirdly enough, even though I always pronounce Vash like Cash or Flash, about 1/3 of the folks I know still pronounce it like Wash with a V. Don't know why.
Don't know if it qualifies as nickname but I grew up in a Polish-American househould and the neighborhood kids and my buddies all called me "Stas" or "Stasiu" which means "Stan" but most did not know that. When my first grade teacher called me "Stanley" on the first day of class, all my classmates said in unison "WHO?" Of course, for the summer when I was growing up, dad had me get the mandatory cllippershave every two wks. from June-Sept. and eveyone called me "baldy". Or "Stashie washie was a bear, Stashie washie had no hair". Hmmmm ... did those early clippershaves lead to early mpb ?
