I want the short buzz on top look
« on: December 10, 2008, 05:12:01 AM »
So, Im balding, and bic my head every day. I'm 23 years old. There is truly nothing that would make me happier in life than to have a really close/short buzzcut, like the guys in Prison Break. To me, not only would this look better than the bicced head by framing my face, but this would also show the world that I'm not balding and choose to shave my head, which would be a huge confidence booster for me.

I think I could attain this look by a hair transplant by one of the top surgeons in the world, who's new technique, FUE, does not leave a scar in the back. I'm still taking Propecia so I am not really losing hair any more (I dont think?) With this surgery, I could get a hairline, keep my hair really short as I above explained, and be much much happier with my appearance. And, after all, its our own image of ourselves that matters the most.

mh. i can understand your thoughts, because i went and still going also through this.

but think of that what you are doing. you're thinking about hairloss stuff and threatment,
i bet close to everyday.

taking propecia for your whole life to keep hair from a transplant that might look worse.
life is to short to think about all this stuff and spending money on that.

the best thing is to accept whats going on, ok easy said and i know i'm not still there.
but its just the best way. once you reached this point you will be happier and you a can concetrate
your thoughts to the important things of life.

it's just my opinion, because i'm absolutly against all this hairloss threatment stuff. that's a superficiality
thing of modern life that says you, you have to look perfect. but who defines perfect. marketing experts.

there are such a lot of men out there having hairloss and it seems to be more and more younger men.
i can't understand why this don't find more acceptance or in other words said balding or a bald head seems to
be undestand as a negativ connotation in this world.....

sorry for spreading out my opinion. i know everyone have to find his one way to be satisfied.
i hope you will find the way  O0

"simplify your life, the world is complicated enough" - that's a good motto

so nothing for bad.

Get a really solid guarantee on " one of the top surgeons in the world, who's new technique, FUE, does not leave a scar in the back. "  No "top" surgeon gives them, scars are the natural response of the body to an "insult" and the donor site is probably smaller than the recipient site--there's going to be evidence of the donor insult.  The only thing that won't have a visible scar is your ego when you find out it doesn't work, there will be a scar there too, in addition to the back of your head.  Face it, when they put a knife to you, there's no free lunch.  If you will, let what you've got left grow out, but think long and hard before you submit to the knife.

Do what you need to, head.  But I guarantee that getting this "FUE" surgery will NOT cure your depression about balding.

You've been sold a bill of goods on this FUE technique not providing scars.  Also, a shaved head after surgery will reveal that you've had surgery and probably lower your confidence.  Yet, if you shave it clean, you'll be much happier.

You should absolutely shave your head before pursuing any kind of surgery. Give it a month or two -- if you don't like it, you can always let it grow out and go the surgery route.  But the more likely outcome is that you'll discover a whole new world of freedom and confidence and won't want the surgery anymore.  You'll never know if you don't give it a try.

It takes a while, but eventually you come to the realization that losing your hair really isn't a big deal.  At first you think it's the end of the world, but believe it or not, you CAN get beyond it.  But it will never happen if  you go the "cover-up" (i.e., plugs, drugs or rugs) routes.  Let the hair go and start enjoying your life.  It requires you to take a leap of faith, but it is one well worth taking.

I have been shaving my head down to the surface for almost two and a half years. I must say, I still do not have any problems attracting women with or without hair, but without hair I'm no longer one of the best looking guys in the room.

I know it could just be vanity, but I really miss having the hair, and it truly did give me more self-confidence than I have now.  I just dont want to be the "bald guy". No matter how much I try to convince myself, and I do try, I will never like it.

I by no means want to convince anyone on this board to get surgery, but the transplant techniques out there these days are really much better than they were even 5 years ago. The scarring can be minimal, and I'm keeping it as an option for the future once I have a job and some money.

However, since I am bald and will be for the near future at least, I'm wondering if any of you have advice on tanning. I think a bald head looks MUCH better with some color. In the winter it is difficult, though. Are tanning salons as dangerous as people say they are?

Most people feel that way at first.  Trust me, you'll reach a point where it's no longer a big deal.  It might not happen tomorrow, but it will happen.

dude, I feel very similarly.
It would be friggin amazing if i could even retain the hair I have now, and just go with a short buzz...
but listen to some of guys here, they will show you the perspective that you are missing...
think about it in long term.
where will you be 15 years from now, and will hair be as important to you then as it is now? will you be done with hair loss after one surgery?
are you willing to take a pill for the rest of your life?
will you be ok with a scar on the back of your head?

ps i have a scar on the back of my head... not from any surgery but a childhood accident. and I wish it wasnt there

Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but I'm pretty much an all-or-nothing kind of guy when it comes to this.  I would much rather be completely bald than to just lose some of my hair.  I don't want the bald spot on the crown or the receding hairline.  If I can't have all of my hair, then I don't want any of it.

no RazorX I don't think you are in the minority , especially not in this forum.
I just haven't reached the point yet where you can tell that I am balding, if If I have a close buzz... but I know the day is fast aproaching so I have started adjusting now so I can have a smooth transition

Wise move.  Looks like you're buzzing pretty short.  Once you get down to a zero-guard or shorter you can give yourself a "free preview" of total baldness.  Shave your head smooth on a Friday night and it will be all grown out by Monday morning.  That lets you get  used to it gradually.  You'll be surprised by how few people will even notice.  When you're starting to feel more confident, you can just move into full-time baldness.  You won't fully understand until you experience, but trust me, once you get used to a slick noggin, you won't want to go back to having hair.
