Bald Girls Do Lunch
bgdl:
New here and delighted to see a forum on women's issues.
hope to provide another view on bald women....especially the area I know best which is baldness from the autoimmune hairloss disease alopecia areata ( aa). We're not sick. We just cannot grow hair normally. Our follicles always have the potential to kick in and work normally again. Treatment are few and for the most severe cases are not too useful. I founded the nonprofit www.baldgirlsdolunch.org as the go-to resource for women with aa. I meet with women around the country to help them find others for support and information.
Some of us have had aa since childhood. So that bald child you see sometimes who looks really healthy might just be a kid with aa, not getting chemo. Same for us bald women. Sometime the hair grows only to fall out again. and it can include all body hair even eyelashes and eyebrows. My bald patches grew back when I was younger, but in the last 12 years it has only fallen out.
So..I hope to provide some info for you and answer any questions. Tried to attach my photo but the file's too big.

Welcome to the forum bgdl!
I look forward to learning and getting insight on alopecia areata. I went to high school with a girl that had aa, and she wore a wig. I never had the opportunity to get into deep detail with her about aa.
