I Urge You All!

To all of my sly colleagues:
I know how cliche and platitudinous it sounds, but I do honestly believe that this is one of the most important elections in our lifetime (at least mine). I don't want this to turn into a thread on an argument of who everybody is voting for. I just want to urge everybody here, no matter who you support, to go out there and vote on November 4th. In many states, there's still time to vote early as well. I know that through these tough times, many people have become cynical or apathetic towards the government, but during these crucial times, there is no place for that attitude. Cynicism is the thing that is hurting our nation the most. If you don't like either party, there are plenty of third parties to vote for. I know that you're thinking "Why vote for a party that has no chance of winning?" For those, I say to keep in mind that the original Republican party was a third party. The Democrat party adopted ideals from the Populist party and in Minnesota merged with the Farmer-Labor Party. There's only one way to show your support and have the politicians out there know what the people care about.
No matter who you are voting for, VOTE! Please.
Thanks.

Well said. I won't get into who I am voting for though some of you already know but please bear one thing in mind. Alot of our sly brothers and sisters on here served in the military both during times of peace and war. Part of their service insured that we could have the freedoms we enjoy one of being the ability to vote. Don't dishonor them by not voting. And remember..If you don't vote...you don't have a damn right to complain!!

Oregon's voting system is so unique, but it works. They always have such a high turnout.

From a UK national daily newspaper:
'We are about to enter the twilight zone, that strange black hole in political time and space that appears no more than once every four years. It is known as the period of transition, and it starts a week from today, the time when the United States has not one president but two. One will be the president-elect, the other George Bush, in power for 12 more weeks in which he can do pretty much whatever he likes. Not only will he never again have to face voters, he won't even have to worry about damaging the prospects of his own party and its standard bearer (as if he has not damaged those enough already). From November 5 to January 20, he will exercise the freest, most unaccountable form of power the democratic world has to offer.'
Can you send him on "gardening leave"?
