Hi guys!

Hope you are all well.

Since I began epilating my scalp a few years ago, I have now come to the conclusion that it is time that I took the ultimate step & opted for a permanently bald head. I decided at the beginning of this year that I will become a happy permanently bald guy this year, so I have a consultation with a dermatologist this Wednesday coming at a specialist salon in Edinburgh. I'm a little nervous & excited all at the same time and not entirely sure what to expect at the initial consultation.

I never honestly thought that one day that I would want to be a bald guy by choice.

If it wasn't for this forum i would probably be worried as well right now.. but having read through most of the stories i was already prepared and i know it is just a case of sticking it out until the end.

The patches are definitely embarrassing and it has affected my social life because i hardly leave the house without a cap but i figure it will all be worth it in the end. If i can walk around years with a receding hairline knowing it was only going to get worse, i can surely handle a year of embarrassment knowing that i will finally be shadowfree when it is all over.

Buddy,
Hows it going?
Seeing better results lately?

greg7039,
Seen the photos I posted a few days ago?
Feel more confident?

Regards from Melbourne,

Jack

Well, today is Wednesday, 15th January....... and in an hour and a half's time I will be sat in the dermatologists salon & having my scalp examined to see what method the dermatologist is going to use to remove the remainder of my hair & how long the course of treatment will have to be.

Am a little nervous, to say the least!!

Hi cisco..

I am only just going in for my 2nd treatment this saturday. Today it has been exactly 6 weeks since my first treatment. The redness has faded away and most of the bald spots are still the same size.. but on some of them there has been some very minor regrowth this week resulting in a little decrease in size but none of the spots have grown back completely.

Like you said i figured around 4 weeks after you start shedding hairs the follicles that didnt get burned as badly start coming back. But what i have noticed is that the hair that has grown back in those bald spots is not weaker or thinner it is the same as it was before. Is that anything to be worried about ?

@cisco
i forgot to ask you something.. when you dont shave for lets say two weeks.. the hair that does grow back is it all over your head or is it just little spots here and there ? so does this mean that there are spots where there is absolutely no hair growth anymore

from what i understood after just talking with my therapist.. only a part of the head is in the growth fase and after a treatment according to her it is normal that some hair grows back because those are the follicles that were not in the growth fase and could not be fully destroyed at that time. she went on to explain that everybody has so called ''sleeping'' hairs that were not active but can be activated after awhile but these hairs are always a lot thinner and weaker..

Hey mate,
Hope you'r seeing better results latelly!

What your therapist told you is spot on. I still have some hair growing all over my head, but you couldnt tell!
I can go 5/6 days without shaving and you wouldnt notice a single hair because they are really thin and light (just like the picture I posted last time).

Now that I think about it, I could probably remove the remaining hair with a couple more sessions.. and one touch-up every couple of years (in case some of it would grow back).

I wont do it anyway, because my goal was "simply"removing the shadow while avoiding the pain of shaving every day. Those goals were met so I am really happy with the results.

Have a great week everybody!

Jack

Greetings. I went though 5 sessions, it's time for the 6-th. And it's the first time after more than a month since last procedure there's so little hair left it's almost invisible. I will go through another sessions, as it may be hair will grow back.

It's strange realizing I won't have hair ever. It's still something that seems unreal to me. But if to chose from shaving and horseshoe and this, this is 100% better for me. The feeling, the look, it's great. I didn't believe when guys wrote it's the one of best things in their life they did. But now I can relate to it. You can appreciate it only after wearing the horseshoe for 10 years.

I plan going through another 3-4 sessions. Heopefully it will get me to 90%. I doublt I can go to 100%, if it's possible at all. It already took me half a year.

Hi Guys, sorry for being absent but got real sick over holidays and just am now back in the groove. I've had two sessions since I last wrote and is going fairly well. One exception has been I had two different laser techs and they used a much narrow focused beam which is not covering the total scalp and has created "circles" in my scalp. I'm not happy about however the management has agreed to compensate me. Still I'm happy with my progress. I have another session coming up in a few weeks and will let you know. Take it easy.

To anyone against this procedure you don't seem to get it do you? Shaving your head does not mean you are no longer balding. You are still a balding man, and everyone can see that. Bald =/= balding and that's my opinion. Right now I'm a norwood 2 with diffuse thinning in a 3a pattern. After taking propecia for a year and getting no results and sides I decided to quit and look into other options. Laser hair removal is the only way to fight baldness, not shaving, not pathetic transplants and especially not smp (though after getting your scalp lasered, doing smp may actually make much more sense). Everytime I see that norwood 5/6/7 curtain shadow on a balding man I cringe and would rather die than sport that.

I'm only 23 and plan on fighting baldness head on. To anyone who is my age and is thinking about shaving do it to test out your new look, not as a permanently solution, because it couldn't be further from the truth. I can clearly see my receding hairline even though I'm always shaved. I can see that I'm diffuse thinning from the higher ratio of white gaps in my frontal region compared to my crown and sides (confirmed by letting it grow out).

I just want to be a bald man, and not a balding man. I don't want to wake up every morning, look in the mirror and constantly see that I'm balding. Imagine waking up every morning and seeing an extra wrinkle on your face everyday. It happens way too fast balding to be able to emotionally confront it like aging.

And that my friends, is why laser is a viable option, and anyone who is conscience of the way they look (mostly attractive people) will see that.

Btw I'm looking to get this done once my crown starts thinning and to everyone shaving their heads after this procedure, that's just silly. Buy an epilator, it won't be that painful due to the remaining hair being very thin, and eventually all the hairs will get damaged and stop growing.

Another thing I do not like this site, period. But I came across this thread when searching for people with laser hair removal experience on the head. It seems many people in this thread actually want to take some serious steps in overcoming baldness, and aren't in denial about the way they look.

One last thing, if you wanna go for the more matt look (which is waaaay better imho), try this:
