I am fortunate, I often get compliments about my shine without using anything. But there are times I want the shine to be very bright. Using HeadLube Glossy is a real good idea. I use that the most, if I want the gloss. But also if you are prone to irritation, you can also use some Aloe Vera gel. That gets it pretty glossy too!
Since you let us in on your routine, I was wondering if you ever shaved in the shower? For me that is a time saver. Since we are both bearded you might be able to relate a little here. But what I do is before going into the shower is wet the areas of my face that I shave and I also wet the are above where the beard ends and put HeadSlick on those areas. I then shave those areas of my face before going in the shower. That way I don't remove extra bearded areas. Then when I get into the shower, I soak the bean with hot water and apply HeadSlick to it. I also use a HeadBlade and shave by feel. Heck, I can do it with my eyes closed and have even done it when my power was out for over 2 days and it was dark.
For me the HeadBlade does a better job than the Mach 3. But everyone's hair and scalp conditions are different. But usually I only need to pass over the shaved area once. Around the ears I will use a Mach 3 or a Extreme 3. I usually don't do the ice water rinse. But if I do, that is because I am trying to get rid of a sinus headache!!! hehehe.
