The Thanksgiving Debate

We try to involve both families at either Thanksgiving or RamaHanuKwanzMas / Winter Solstice Non-Secular Celebration Season (aka "Christmas" in the House of Schro). Some years it's hard to accomplish that, since our relatives are spread out all over the US.

This Christmas (I can say that, since it applies to me), we're hosting the family, so Team Schro is a free agent this Thanksgiving ... anyone got 4 spots open? 

The SCHRO family would be more than welcome at the Koz casa if they make it to the East...............

Thanksgiving?!  Oh, no, that makes me think of CHRISTMAS and its too $@!!&*^%$ early!

I can't believe this has come up so early.  I'm gonna warn all of you right now, that between November 1 and December 31 I get really cranky.

To many people try to put to many demands on MY and MY FAMILIES time.  Between the families, the friends, the parties it just gets out of hand.  My mother-in-hell asks us every year what we want to do.  I tell her, then she tells us what we're going to do  DAMMIT LADY! JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO START WITH!

See, now look my blood pressure is up already.   

Like Koz, I told my wife I would like to hook up the camper and hit a campground for Thanksgiving.  I am on call for the hospital and there is a very nice state park 10 minutes from the there.  That's what we did for July 4th and it worked out nicely.

GAS...you will be here for Thanksgiving and Christmas right?  I mean you know  you need to be here.  You never spend enough time with this side of your friends.  Do not give me any excuses because I will not tolerate it.  You spend plenty of time with her family and your family..now it is time  you start paying attention to everyone else.  DONT YOU THINK!  Now what are WE GOING to have to for dinner?  you bring the turkey, dressing , mashed potatoes, homemade noodles, greenbean casserole, Red Velvet cake for dessert.  Please do not bring anything to my house that needs to be re-heated because I got a brand new oven and I do not want to turn it on to reheat a turkey taht you OBVIOUSLY do NOT know how to COOK, your noodles are all clumped together, your dressing ( you can break a window with it)  mashed potatoes are runny and greenbean casserole is burnt.  Not to mention the Red Velvet cake...you might as well call it a  RED CARPET cake because taht is all it is worth...to be walked on.   See ya at 1:00 thanksgiving day.  Oh I will supply the drinking water...from my Braun water filter.  See ya

Well, the boy, the gf and myself will be in Ashland, OR at her sister's home and I thinks we'll be having a couple of Ringneck Pheasants (I'm bringing those) and whatever they hosts plan.

We have a rather large extended family on both of my parents' sides and we usually do a huge family meal or just have our own intimate family gathering.  This year, due to Mom's health and very restricted diet, we're doing a rather simple meal at my parents house and since both of my brothers are married now, we're not sure if they'll be there or not, so it'll likely be just me and my parents, and honestly, after the chaotic week of work I'll have that week (I work at Kroger) I'm rather looking forward to a more quiet, toned down holiday.  Oh, and I'm doing all the cooking so Dad says he's gonna lose some weight now so he can enjoy the fruits of my labor (not that he didn't eat like a horse all these years when mom cooked - she's an awesome cook).
