It's the federal "Do Not Call List". I'm not sure of the link, but you can do it on the phone or through the web. Search this guy's site. he's a local consumer advocate guru type guy here in Atlanta.

Junk mail ALWAYS ends up in the recycling so I don't really know why I bother taking the time to read it...

Over here though, we are constantly 'spammed' with leaflets.. and being where I live sometimes I can get up to ten a day, which is extremely annoying (take-away menu's/loansharks/estate agents' bumpf etc..)
A few times when I've seen these people about to post their rubbish through my door, I've snuck
to the front door and as soon as they lift the letterbox, I've banged on the door really hard
with my fists and barked really loud and deep lmao
I'm sure they realise it's not an actual dog, but it's always fun when you see them jump out of their skin!

I receive very little junk mail anymore. I do what Tim does and either write, PLEASE REMOVE ME FROM YOUR LIST IMMEDIATELY, on the paperwork inside and then mail it back to them in their own prepaid postage envelope. If they don't provide an envelope, then there is usually an 800 number provided somewhere on the paperwork to call them if you are interested. I call their number and demand to be removed from the list. I haven't received any in over two years now.

I've been meaning to sign up with
Life Lock to protect against identity theft. One of the perks is that it reduces junk mail.

No because then I will get out of the habit of checking the mail everyday. Then something that is actually important will come and it will sit for a week, I'll miss a wedding or something. Then someone will get mad or upset and won't believe me and I'll be a marked man for the rest of my life!!! See junk mail is a good thing.

Damn good site. He's got a great radio show on WSB 750. It's a clear channel station - you might can pick it up at night - and get a replay of the days show

I send their return mailer envelope back to them with nothing inside. Then they have to pay that postage for nothing. I've heard that if everybody who hates junk mail sent their envelopes back to them empty that it would strain their bankbooks so badly that they would have to stop sending that crap out.
