Hey all, in checking out the barbershop shave thread, I thought I would post up an update and an experience I had about an hour ago. I have been buzzing the bean down to nothing for about 2 months now as close as it will go with an outliner trimmer. I even purchased my own Andis model and have been doing it myself every couple days. I ran into another Sly brother in passing at a picnic over the weekend and while trading some small talk, he recommended that I try out a barber shop called The Clipper Shoppe. I had a good 3 day stubble working and so I decided to check it out at lunch today....so glad I did! The Clipper Shoppe is a small 1 chair off the beaten path shop operated by a woman who appeared to be about my age early 40's. I didn't even have to ask her....she said "clean her up?" She proceeded to buzz me down and then fired up an electric shaver similar to what I've heard Red describe....she said she uses it for smooth bald fades! She wasn't kidding....she ran that thing over my bean with precision for about 15 minutes and when she was done, I'm smooooooth bald! I'm sure maybe some of you would argue that a razor shave is smoother but I'm telling you....I'm smooth as a baby's @$$ sly and while I was digging the skin tight buzz, this is freaking amazing!! I guess around these parts, the barber shop razor headshave is no more due to health regulations, but this is the next best thing and I'm loving it! So, I just thought I'd post up a little update as I've mentioned that I would soon take the plunge to smooth Sly and I'm happy to report that the plunge has been taken! I'll try to post up a new pic soon!
Smooth is right! What kind of shaver do you mean? Like a Panasonic Linear?
Exactly Kojak! I don't know what kind or model it was but I will find out! Definitely made the bean smooth though!
Yeah I use the ES 8078. Easily the easiest method I tried to keep the head smooth.
If you are interested in buying one. I believe Amazon still has instant $30 off a $99 Panasonic purchase. In fact I bought a spare Panasonic the ES8043SC (One without a charging station since I already had one it'll fit and you dont really need one since it comes with a charging cord) and a replacement kit for the foil and blades (for when I need to swap out) using that deal. Came to around $80 with that deal. I love the thing so much I want to be sure to never be without.
