Final Chapter
This is the end of my long journey to a new house. It began in May when we put our house on the market and has ended with our moving into a new one this past Friday.
I can say with confidence that this was by far my most painful move (8th house), due to spending 3 months in a hotel and having the other purchase transaction fall apart on my way to the closing.
But, in the end it was worth it. Although we spent more for this house than we were planning to spend, we got an unbelievable deal on it. Timing is a funny thing. We ended up selling our house for quite a bit more than we could get now (before the market tanked), and benefited from buying in a lower market now and from sellers in a very nasty divorce who just wanted to dump this house as fast as they could and go their separate ways.
When my last transaction fell apart on the day of the closing, many people said "everything happens for a reason", and at the time I just thought "yeah, right ..." Now I realize they were right.
Thanks for all the support along the way guys ...
Andrew
