Hey Lion-
I checked it out and book marked it. It would be nice if individuals could add their own ratings for beers and then have all the ratings add up to an 'average" rating.
You can! All you have to do is find the beer (we're working out a better system for this, but for now you could either click "Reviews" at the top to scroll through a list of beers, or enter a specific beer into the Search box) and then leave a comment with your ratings. These are averaged over all the users and displayed on the main post.
When I was on the site, one beer was under Review, and the rest were under News. Probably an oversight.
Yeah, that was fixed today. Still a lot of kinks to work out but it's progressing very fast. There's now almost 100 beers in the system and my buddy is working on optimizing the appearance so people actually know what to do.

When the site is finally looking good I'm probably going to run a contest where every review you do gives you a ticket in a draw for a (small) cash prize. Not bad for a few seconds of work! I'll let you guys know when the promotion starts!
I will be running a beer-themed week on my other website as well that week to try to drum up interest. Perhaps I'll make it so if you put a secret code from my website into your review then you'll get two entries. Who knows, but I'll keep you posted.
Me and a few of my friends did a blind beer tasting/rating last night. We went to the store, bought 10 kinds of beer then rated them without knowing what they were. The results might surprise you!
http://rateyourbrew.com/rateyourbrewcom-first-blind-taste-test/I would encourage you guys to do a blind taste-testing yourself. It was so much fun -- especially if you guess what each one is and then reveal them at the end. Then you get to riff on your buddy for thinking a beer was super expensive when it was actually Coors Light!
Also I have confirmation now that RYB WILL be running a contest starting soon. It will run for a month and every rating will earn the reviewer ONE ticket into a draw for a cash prize of about $30 (ie. about a case of beer!). The more you review, the more chances you'll have to win. I will count comments from last week onward in the contest because J Digory was nice enough to review several beers and I want him to have a chance to win. You guys officially have a head start because the contest won't be announced until at least Monday. Consider it a bit of a sly guy advantage!
So get reviewing!
All right well it doesn't seem like too many guys are interested so this will probably be my last post on the issue.
The site has really started to take off and we already have over 120 reviews and just over 100 beers in the system. The contest for the free money has started and will be going all month so if you ARE interested, leave some ratings for your chance to win.
