To be or not be intimidated
« on: August 06, 2008, 12:18:39 PM »
One of my favorite books of all time and one of the books that really took my confidence to a new level is called To Be or Not to Be Intimidated?: That is the Question by Robert Ringer.  This is a re-write of this earlier book Winning Through Intimidation.

I first learned of this book my freshman year of college when it became a required reading for my Econ 101 class.  My econ professor happened to be an entrepreneur on top of being a teacher, so he was big into teaching us things that were on the fringe of Econ.

One of the things about this book is that is has a bunch of "laws" in the book that apply to everyday life.  When reading the book, these are what you should focus on as the rest of the book just adds context as to how Ringer learned these laws.

Has anyone else read this book?

People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

I'm always looking to add to my reading list.

Would there be any reason to read BOTH "Winning Through Intimidation"  AND "To Be Or Not To Be...."?

Or is everyting well-strengthened in the latter?

Everything is covered in the latter, so no need to read the original.

Oh...man...it get's better and better....

just spent another 2 hours reading it.....half-way through the book.

Schro...you'll be able to particularly relate to the first half of the book as the author relays his experiences as a loan broker for commercial real estate deals and his school of hard knocks (he calls it attending "Screw U."....lol)  dealing with hardcore intimidators.

Up to now I was getting a teeny bit worried because my business doesn't involve negotiating deals.

But now he's starting to tie his experiences and intimidator-proof strategies into perspective-changing approaches applicable at many levels...

Excellent stuff !!!

I read this book the author’s trademarks are his profound insights, clear, concise writing style, and humorous, self-deprecating accounts of his own trials and tribulations. His unique insights and advice give people hope that there is a way to survive and retain one’s sanity in today’s world turned upside down. Perhaps the late syndicated columnist Ann Landers best summed up Robert Ringer’s impact on society when she described him as "an astute student of human nature and a fabulous teacher."
