I don't even know who  Sammy Hagar is!  :px

You've gotta feel a little bit sorry for Sammy when you see the results of the poll.

Sammy rocks, I was listening to him before I'd heard of Van Halen.  But Van Halen wasn't the same without DLR.

while Van Hagar was good, Van Halen was DLR. It was 2 different bands really. I got to go with the original line up.

The original sound of Van Halen with DLR was one of a kind.
That being said, I actually think it was a better band with Sammy on lead vocals.

Like Medic, I was listening to Hagar before Van Halen. Standing Hampton still stands as one of my all time favorite albums.

I grew up with the DLR so he will always be the real lead singer of Van Halen.

Having said that, ever since he had that short lived radio show in New York when he replaced Howard Stern, he kind of creeps me out.

I think he lost is mind.

stemikger,

I think he has lost his mind.  I don't know if it was a link from this site, but I remember seeing a video of him doing a cover of a country song (I think), and it was downright scarey and pathetic.  Talk about the glory days being over for him.  I saw that Mick Jagger just turned 65.  You may not like him or whatever product he puts out there today, but he is still Mick Jagger.  DLR... who knows?

How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Van Hagar all the way. He may not be the original one...but I really can't stand David Lee Roth. The man is a stupid nut job. Did I mention I don't like him? Oh, his voice is like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL!!! Well, keep running...don't turn back! Keep going! Hell suits you and your horrible 'music'.

Seriously though, I am not all that passionate about it...I just don't care for the man.

There would be no Van Halen without Diamond Dave.  O0
Sammy just picked up where the real front man left off,
after that, the band didn't have any more hits.  :(

No hits with Hagar? Maybe they weren't hits to you, but I could say the same thing about the hits they had with Dave.

there were a few big hits with Hagar, but to me it was a different band and sound, still very good in its own right
