Just wondered if any of my fellow SLY brothers out there were also members of the Masonic fraternity?

The ancient fraternity of Freemasons dates from the Dark Ages when a guild of masons (builders who worked in stone or brick) was specially consigned to build churches. In 604 A.D., Freemasons built St. Paul's, London, and in 605, St. Peter's, Westminster. After the Great Fire of London in 1666, Mason, Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt St. Paul's Cathedral, which still stands today. As they were so employed, several papal edicts exempted the guild from certain laws and other burdens placed on craftsmen and other commoners--thus they became "free" masons.

My father was a mason. I grew up attending all of their function. My brother was in their organization for teenagers which i think was called Demolay or something. My father was a Master (or something like that) and then a Past Master .... wow that was a long time ago. I'm having flashbacks.

My Great-grandfather, grandfather and my father were all Masons. I have often thought about looking into it and have asked my father about it but as of now I still have yet to take the step.

I think a few of my uncles were Masons, too. I've always curious about it. Maybe I'll get better Google-educated on it.

My grandfather was a mason and my uncle currently is one. I've recently thought about joining but haven't taken the time to figure out which of the 5 chapters in my area that I want to join.

My grandfather was a mason and my grandmother belonged to the womens organization, The Eastern Stars. Have thought about joining but never got around to it. I do remember as a high school kid the touching and symbolic ceremony they did at my grandfathers wake.

My grandfather was a Mason. I was unaware of this until after he passed away in January. While going through his stuff we found five different Masonic rings. No one else wanted them, so I took them all. He had some very nice ones.
