Just a question for my Canadian brothers. It is law there that you have to have your headlights on all the time? We have a Canadian-American Festival here in Myrtle Beach ever year and I notice Canadians have their headlights on sunshine or rain.

No, there is no law for headlights, but what confuses a lot of people it that there is the law requiring all vehicles to be equipped with daytime running lights.  The DTR's are standard in all vehicles and must be installed in all vehicles that are imported and actually appear to be headlights but are in fact a lot dimmer.

I own a Chevy Cavalier and it has daytime running lights.  I bought it here in Washington
State and it was a year old rental car.  I am sure that it was not a car meant for the Canadian market as Miles are bold and Kilometers are smaller on the speedomiter.  But I am wondering if American cars are going to be doing this so it wouldn't matter what country you are in.

For me it's a combination of the above mentioned, but:

how about the slow turners?  At first you're going normal speed behind them but once they hit that blinker they have to slow down to 0 before beginning the turn so that the centrifugal force doesn't launch them out of the window.

It's gotta be that, or Mr/Mrs, I'm going to take a left across 5 lanes of traffic during rush hour.  He/She doesn't care if you're waiting behind.  Give up, go right, and find a U-ie later or find another route.

Lol I'm all worked up now.  Y'all got me road raged and I'm not even in the car.  ;D

Sorry to hijack, but I found something I know about!!! A lot of the cars made for the US are equipped with DRL's now. Not everyone uses the same lights, but the principle is still the same. For a while the Corvettes and Camaros used the parking lights in the front. The Acura MDX uses the fog lights. The Acura RL uses the high beam bulbs, but only at about 20% of normal power.

Back to the subject, everything you guys have mentioned, ticks me off and then some....

How about this...having your passenger (say, your wife) do the sudden invisible brake move and gasp at something in traffic..causing you either a minor heart attack or an actual over-reaction that DOES cause an accident.

I tell her it's like having a mime riding shotgun.

Ahh you got me.  It's not a true force, but it is commonly understood as for moving away from the center and a lot easier to describe!

I think that Newton's first law is easier to explain, but then again that is just me

People who speed up when there is a passing lane and slow down when passing is impossible

I agree with you sooo much there bro.  On my way to florida...we were about 10 miles from our destination...3 lanes...I was in the far left lane doing about 70.  in front of me a car doing about 60...just to the right of them another car going about the same speed...NO ONE in the far right lane ( the slow lane).  Being that I had been on the road for well over 15 hours at this point...I decide to move over 2 lanes to the "Slow Lane"  to get around them.  Well well well...guess who gets pulled over?  ME! He said I was speeding and I did an unsafe lane change...( no one behind me other than him and he was way behind me) He said my turning signal didnt come on until I got in the the middle lane.  All worked out good...cause I didnt recieve anything other than a verbal warning.  I think with Annie sitting in the front seat and her smiling at him won him over because when he walked back to our van on the passenger side to give me my DL back he winked at her and told her to tell my daddy to be careful and have a great vacation.  LOL

So what I am saying is...MOVE OVER IF YOU ARE HOLDING BACK TRAFFIC!  I over heard this one young girl saying to her friend at a McDonalds once that she liked driving in the left hand lane all the time because we normally just drive on the right side.  I explained to her what the left lane was for..her reaction was "Mind your own business Grandpa!"  Had she been a child of mine...she wouldnt be driving for a long while.

I miss the good old days when in montana you could drive as fast as you wanted while drinking a beer.  now we can't do either and the traffic fatalities have risen.

People that pull out in front of me on a two lane road, drive 50 yards and turn left!  Dammit!  You could wait 20 seconds for me to go by, THEN you can go see your neighbor.

Well I experienced this on monday.  I had to go out on some measurements and its not a good thing to be out in the country in "Amish land" on a monday morning around 8am.  SLOW MOVING VEHICLES.  I bet every amish family had their horse and buggy out on the road that morning..
