Dry patchy scalp

Hey guys... I have developed some dry patches where the skin is flaking, like I had a mild sunburn or something. I haven't had a sunburn though.

Dandruff? I don't know... but  is seems to worsen when I shave. It gets all red and pissed off looking, then gets milder a day or so after. I'm using an electric because my scalp is so sensitive right now. I use a ton of Cetaphil cream on it, but it's just a temoporary fix.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

I had some issues when I first started shaving regularly (although I had Seborrheic Dermatitis and that is a whole other affliction that I wont go into detail about). It takes a bit before your head gets used to being shaved and out in the elements.

You may want to give it a few days in between right now to allow your skin to toughen up a bit more. I am a huge fan of Witch Hazel, if I get irritated skin on my neck from shaving it seems to help. I dont get to much irritation on my head anymore but I still do on my neck and when I shave with an electric it is like 100x worse. May want to try a blade over the 'lectric

Thanks Marz... The blade is murder on me. I can't get clean with a single swipe, so it is way worse that the electric. I'll try waiting a little longer between shaves.

MikeyDude, it sounds like you might need to moisturize your scalp.  Marz is right!  Give your scalp a few days to toughen up.  In addition to witch hazel, (great stuff!) try some aloe vera gel to put some moisture back into your scalp.  Check out some of the shaving routines posted.  Preparation is just as important as shaving.  I use a little baby oil on my scalp before using HeadSlick.  Might be something to consider.

Like Marz, I sufferred from Seb Dermatitis (completely sucks). However, I've gotten complete relief from it as a result of shaving the dome with a razor. Buuckkweet also brings up a good point, gotta moisturize. Also, make sure you use the right shave cream or oil to maximize protection during the shave process.

There's a ton of input on the SBG forum to help you along. Also, the guys here are very helpful with their input.

For me, I use a Headblade Classic Razor and have gotten great results with HeadSlick and also Shaving Gels (both Gillette and Edge). Recently picked up some Bald Guyz Shave Gel (gonna give that a try too).

For moisturizer, I use L'Oreal Comfort Max SPF15 Balm when I'm out in the sun (plus sunscreen). If I'm not, I'll use Banana Boat Aloe Vera After Sun Cream.
