I think I am gonna stick to montana, no trail fees, only boats with a 5+ hp engine need a license and it is a perm.

Hey, Challenge,

What part of Ohio are you in.

Wife and I just bought a Mad River Adventure 14 canoe to play around with on some of the local lakes and streams.  We've been out to Caesar's Creek Lake, but with all the rain we've been having, we're really not ready to try the rivers yet.  They seem a bit high and fast still.

If you are in the southwest, you can get maps for the Mad, Great Miami and Stillwater Rivers showing all the launch sites, dams and portages from way north of Dayton down to Cincinnati at:

http://www.miamiconservancy.org/resources/maps.asp

They will mail out free copies.

I live in the other corner of the state, near Warren. I take my kayak up to Mosquito Lake, which is 5 miles from my house. I haven't been able to talk my wife into joining me yet. My daughter and her husband live in Piqua on the banks of the Great Miami though.
