Cold water rinse on non-shave days?
« on: June 08, 2008, 06:44:46 PM »
Guys,

Do you still do the cold water rinse on days you do not shave? I find it refreshing on days that I do not shave. Everytime I shower I do a cold water rinse. What about you?

On my few "non-shave" days I still do the cold water and also splash some witch hazel.  In fact, I'll sometime splash more witch hazel later in the day as my scalp tends to get more oily with a little stubble.

I WISH i could go a day without shaving!!! I usually shave twice a day.Once in the morning before work and then with the electric near 5 o'clock. Cold rinses have never done much for me at all.

Guys,

There aren't supposed to be any non-shave days.   d3@  Now you are going to have to contend with the disapproval of BaldAndre.   :popo

You are soo right.  I skip a Saturday every now and then and by noon I usually regret it.  It is much  better to just keep it smooth.

You are soo right.  I skip a Saturday every now and then and by noon I usually regret it.  It is much  better to just keep it smooth.

I usually end up shaving really late in the day on Saturday, so it's not ready to shave again by Sunday morning.  But I had to get an early start yesterday, so I showered and shaved first thing -- which meant that I had more Sunday stubble than usual today.  So I shaved before I went to the gym.  I felt so much better.  When I got out of the car, I saw my reflection in the window and my dome was just gleaming under the hot sun.  Very cool.  I did some intense cardio today, so I was sweating pretty profusely.  And every time I toweled off my dome, I noticed how unusually smooth it was.  You know how you get used to your scalp feeling a certain way at certain times of the day -- so when you change your shaving routine, you notice when it's smoother than it normally would be.

Also, on hot days like this it is SOOO nice not to have sweaty hair clinging to my scalp.  I remember when I was a kid and my hair was really thick, it was always wet in the summertime.  Being bald is so much better.

I do the cold rinse everyday cause I shave everyday 99% of the time.
I discovered something new a while back and have only done it a few times and it helps..to what extent I have no idea but I usually feel good stepping out of the shower afterwards.  OK pick you minds back up OUT OF THE GUTTER and listen.
LOL....kids...
I read an article about circulation of the blood in the shower.   Most people take warm or hot showers and then get out.  To help circulate the blood it was suggested to take your hot shower....then turn the hot off....and rinse in cold water for a few minutes.  then turn the warm water back up for a few minutes....and repeat this at least 3 times.  On mornings that you are sorta slow....not wanting to move...I have done this and I have felt really good afterwards.  Just brace yourself when the water turns cold....but be a man and stand there.  It only last for a few minutes..

i usually get my dome shaved everyday but on my rare "skip" days... i enjoy a cold water rinse in the shower followed by an ice cube rub.  there's nothing like a cold, refreshing ice cube rub on the noggin'. O0

I'm a twice a day shaver too. But Jim, you have the entire headshaving regimen backwards. It's blade shave at 5, and electric in the morning.
Doesn't matter what the shaving tool is. I always finish with a cold-water rinse.

So when do you predict some summer weather around these parts.
BaldAndre, I bet you wanted to turn around and head back to Hawaii.
BRRR...... the Pacific NorthWest is nasty this week. I'm not blaming you Jim, Marz or Andre. I say it's this guy's fault. Eugene Oregon's famous alien citizen.
