The New RV

We finally decided on and bought a RV.  We bought it used from a private seller (no tax....sshhh)

It is a 2004 and only used one time.  He kept it stored in his yard.  Anyway, we are excited about it and are looking forward to some great family vacations.  The first one is planned for the weekend of 6/21-6/22.  We're going to take a quick little trip to a state park about 30 minutes from home.  We don't want to get to far away until we get used to it.

It is our first RV and we've got to figure out all the ins and outs.  Litte different than a tent.  We've been tent camping for 10 years.  It has a queen bed and 4 bunks, that way each of our kids can bring a friend with them and the Mrs and I can have some nice weekends alone too.  I have posted the pics here:  http://picasaweb.google.com/sjlottgriffin

Let me guess, at one point you went camping at the Pinery?

I'm towing it with my 2004 Chevy Silverado Z71 - the rv weighs 4820 dry and my truck will tow 7900

Should be plenty of power.  I did have a brake controller installed.  I bought a weight ditribution/sway control hitch.  We drove it home almost 90 miles and it did great.  A little bouncy, but I've been reading the forums on rv.net and have figured a couple of things to do to help that.

We are so excited to GET OUT OF THE TENT!  We talked about a pop-up, but the Mrs. put her foot down on that one.  "If we buy a pop-up, we might as well stay in the tent".  Kind of true I guess.  "I want walls!" she said.

Fortin Sure did bro! I know it is in your hometown of Sarnia. My dad has an Uncle who lives in London ONT so we would always stop buy there on the way back. Usually would stay at Dunes.

Excellent, your Z-71 should have no problem. Good idea with the hitch too. When semis pass in the opposite direction they can toss you all over the place. Enjoy your new home away from home!!!

My hometown is actually Ottawa, but I actually live in the town of Forest now, just 10 minutes from the Pinery.
